We had heard some very nice things about the production A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale and they were accurate. The theater is built in the Lincoln State Park, a beautiful setting. The stage is large with a second level which was effectively used for the Gettysburg Address as well as other scenes. Some in our party had a little trouble watching a singing and dancing Abe Lincoln but they were won over in the end. One thing, I would skip the buffet. It had the usual chicken, roast beef and veggies but I think next time we will eat before we arrive for a show.
Took the family to see A. Lincoln, A Pioneer Tale. Very fun time! Our seats were great and the musical was very entertaining. Our kids (age 10-20) loved it too! They have a nice concession stand and we enjoyed walking through the history building before the show. Would recommend going and we will certainly be back!
This venue is great for an evening show. The theatre is outside and will get hot during the day, so try to get to an evening show. Stadium style seating and good acting.
Attended a play there this summer, thought it was a nice venue.
Hi, we saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Very well done. The facility is very nice. Even though the weather was warm, there was a nice breeze and it was enjoyable experience.
This was a great setting and wonderful musical. We were able to enjoy the show with our children. The atmosphere isn't stuffy or snooty. You don't have to dress up, though some do. Concessions are available and are reasonably priced. My only gripe was that ticket prices go up 2 hrs before the show. Seems silly to me when the Ampitheatre was only 1/4-1/3 full. It can be a costly venture for a family. Tickets for our group of 8, ran over $100 and one was an infant. Aside from that, this was another great experience.
For a small county, big productions are put on! The place is really nice & all the seats are excellent.
We have seen the Lincoln play/musical at this venue now twice. It is a very well done production. The play was turned to more of a musical three years ago. We saw this new version for the first time this July. The story is a wonderful overview of Abe Lincolns life, particularly his time spent in Indiana. The music is very well done. The actor that played the Older Lincoln was stoic. I would highly recommend this play/musical. The venue is a covered outdoor ampitheater. They make wonderful use of the natur surrounding the ampitheater as part of the production. If staying in the park, it is close to the campgrounds. Also, there is a concession stand available and a history building to tour prior to the show. Finally, there is a fried chicken meal you can purchase and have dinner next to the theater prior to the show. A visit worth making...and great for the whole family. A part of Indiana history for sure.
Incredible theatre and play. Breathtaking setting. Fascinating story.
There is not a bad seat in this outdoor theatre. I have never seen a bad show here either. Just fantastic!
