Firs time ever snow boarding. I rented the snow board and took the lessons. The lesson was pretty extensive. I am pretty sure it was about 3 hours. We learned how to get on the snowboard, stop, slow down, go faster, how to get up if you fall. The teacher i had didnt talk much about safety or checked everyone to make sure helmets were on securely. So please make sure your helmet is on and strapped. Before they have you go down the bunny slope, you still get another lesson before you go on your own. I had a great time overall. Afterwards we went to eat and the place was packed. Its hard to find seats. Food was good. Nothing to complain about. Parking was not an issue.
I had the pleasure to spend sometime at the mountain riding my snowboard, best conditions of the season, grooming was really nice, all trails open 100% , Great guest services and lift attendants very knowledgeable and helpful . Ski the EAST Loon rocks it.
Went snow tubing with 5 friends last night. Easy reservations made on the phone meant quick sign in and we were off for an hour of fun on the slopes. A short chair lift ride brings you to the tube summit. The tubes themselves have a set of left right levers for break and steering. Coming down was everything we wanted it to be - fast, thrilling and fun. After one ride down you'll get the gist of the controls. With 2 routes down you get to pick but to be frank they seemed identical in terrain and speed. Make sure you bring eye wear - goggles are a must. Staff were OK - late teens who could have been a bit more focused on the job. They routinely let the summit run out of tubes forming long lines of waiting and were horsing around while yelling at young kids to be responsible - grow up lads and be a good example or stop being hypocritical. All in all a great way to spend an hour.
The toddler tubing is basic buit fun for the kids. $11 gets you an hour which is a perfect amount of time for kids under 8. We then ride the train (free) a few times and then grab some grub in the lodge and people watch.Tubing, train and lunch for $25; you can't beat that.
I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old and we were in the area for the Ice Castle. While looking for something to keep the kids busy, I stumbled upon Loon Mountain and decided to check out opportunities for tubing because my little ones don't ski yet. Super helpful, fun, and outgoing staff in the parking areas helped with directions to the tubing area. So far, so good. The Tot Tubing was $11 per child for one hour. The Tot Tubing hill was short and slow and parents could not ride down so that left me - a single mom to two little ones - walking up and down the hill a million times while trying to keep both kids safe and happy. Whew! The hour-long tube rental was certainly the right amount of time for young ones but the price seemed steep. No pun intended. The highlight was a free ride on the steam train from near the tubing area back to the parking lot.The mountain was busy and I could see that it would be a great place for a few years down the road if my kids take an interest in skiing.
Skied midweek. There was virtually no lines anywhere. The conditions were pretty good, packed powder well groomed. The only problem I have is that some of the trails are narrow was not bad because there were not many people but if it was crowded these places could become a pain. I also found that most of the workers were friendly and courteous. All on all on was a good day and a fun time
Loon Mountain is a very fun and exciting place to visit. One of the best ski mountains around. But I didn't enjoy the lessons. They send you right up the ski lift. Gondola is fun. Trails are decent. Food is average for a ski mountain. Very cute mountain.
My husband and I went to the Highland Games several years ago and have made it a regulargetaway every year .Loon Mountain has the Highland Games at their Mountain and it is a great event with more things to do than can be done in one day.It has all kinds of events going on from 9am till 9pm.There is something for everyone and they even have buses so u do not have to use your car .They pick up people even at their hotels and motels and u are not charged a dime to take the bus .They bring u from your car in parking lot and bring u directly to the park and they return all day long so u can stay and go when ever u want to .Plus they have people from every where who come from all over the world to see the games and all the activities that they have. There are things for young children and the teens and also bands for all ages .There are so many things to do and see like i said you will not be able to do it all in one day.And not to mention all the foods from all countries and trust me some of the foods u cannot even pronounce. But I myself look forward to going every year and like I said once u go u are hooked.Young and old go and I know it is an event that if you never went to one you really are missing out on a great experience not to mention the fun u will have.Check it out online HIGHLAND GAMES and see what I am talking about and then go and have a great time.
My husband and I went to the Adventure Center for X country skiing. We had our own equipment, quickly signed the paperwork and a very pleasant young man brought us to the beginning of the trail. Beautiful scenery, very enjoyable. I would certainly recommend this.
We went to the Ice Castle this week and loved it. I wish we came sooner in the season as things are melting and some areas were blocked off, but all and all it was great
