Found this little place by accident while traveling. It is beautiful and well kept. You run into other walkers, runners, bikers and wildlife. Very nice.
We biked the trails and had a great time! If in Lynchburg again - we will definitely hit the trails again.
The Riverwalk trail system goes about 8 miles from downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. Most of the trail is paved, and there are many side trails. Whether you are walking, biking, or jogging, the trails provide a refreshing place to renew your energy. In addition the above mentioned activities we saw a botanist from England, a few birders, mothers walking children, and a man doing some bible studies. The walk provides a shady, traffic free environment that renews body and soul. We biked the trail, and we learned that there are bike and kayak rentals available at reasonable prices near the Jefferson St. entrance to the trail. A couple of bridges over the James River bring you to this peaceful, enchanted place. You will find the Riverwalk well worth the time you spend on it.
We were in Lynchburg for three weeks this summer, and I only wish we had found this amazing walk sooner. It is beautiful and peaceful and easy to navigate with a stroller. I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to walk this scenic part of the old town. If you're on a romantic trek, bring a little padlock with you to affix to the bridge.
it was a very nice trail. would have been nice to have a couple of bathrooms along the trail. 8 year old had to go.
The trail was closed for repair. The part we did was not too scenic. The trail was paved and probably better for biking.
Excellent place for a hike. The trail is quiet and well maintained. Hiked alone and felt safe and relaxed.
We always enjoy a stroll downtown and/or on the Riverwalk paths, especially in the Fall or Spring. The downtown renovations are nice and really showcase the city's history. Many good photo-ops here.
The trail is a beautiful place to walk or ride your bike. In different spots you can see parts of the scenic James River. It is paved so it's not bad on your feet. Relaxing and beautiful walk!!
I take my dog to walk the trail and take the bike down for a ride once in while. They seem to keep it really clean. It is a nice walk on the James.
