A beautiful and interesting building that mixes the old with the exciting new. Definitely worth a visit!
Popped in after visiting the museum next door. We didn't have long to look around as we were waiting for the open topped bus, but we were just bowled over by the ceiling! You must go and see it! We will go back to look at it again it's so incredible and go up the stairs to have a closer look. We were told by someone in the library that it cost 4 million and 4 years to construct.
This library is exquisite. The stunning architecture both old and new is amazing. The ceiling is fabulous The facilities are excellent with full wifi access throughout the building, lots of computers and iPads available, with friendly helpful staff around. The archives are amazing but you may need to book for certain information.. Nice cafe area and wonderful roof terrace. The Hornby library and Oak room are fantastic, the Picton reading room is an eye opener, This library also has thousands of rare books with viewing available. There is so much contained in this library you have to see it to believe it.
This is a great place to visit for all the family. The children section is well stocked, bright and cosy. We often visit during the school holidays and the children are treated to a high quality activity session. The staff are friendly and kind. My youngest son was delighted when a member of staff showed him how to use the self-service facility. The Picton Reading room is a treat. Children are fascinated by the Hogwarts appearance of the room. The rooftop area is not to be missed. A fantastic place to sit with your children, enjoy the view, share a book and relax with a tasty coffee from coffee shop.
Did you know if you join this library you can borrow books on your iPad without going into the library. After the lending period is over they disappear from your device. So no fuss, fines or problems. Fantastic service.
blown away by design here, blown away by weather and a bit flabbergasted with prices at costa coffee, all in all real inspiring visit....childrens space was fab
This is one of the highlights of a Liverpool city tour. The old frontage of the library has been preserved but inside has a wow factor. A huge spiral staircase with a giant glass dome ends on the roof with spectacular views across Liverpool. Don't miss the Oak room too, preserved in its original splendour.
The second floor is really fabulous! you can feel the book vibrance. There are a lot of space to inquire reading. Inside there was a nice exhibition for the 175 year of the philharmonic Hall. There is a really nice space for children in the ground floor. Don't forget to look at the ceil! To try!
Amazing, this library is enormous, make sure you go into the round room and up to the roof. We didn't use the cafe but it looked good and was reasonably priced.
I work locally and visit here a lot. The library is a terrific place. Nice coffee shop downstairs, friendly staff and good choices. The Picton reading room is simply amazing
