Cantwell Cliffs is beautiful and a lot less crowded than Old Mans Cave. The hike along the rim offers great views. I was disappointed to see a lot of trash on this hike, I hate to see people so disrespectful of our beautiful parks and natural surroundings.
We love this usually quiet hike in Hocking County. At several spots along the trail, the well worn stone & wood steps and path boundaries have deteriorated. Please be alert to them and wear a good pair of hiking shoes.Great views of the waterfall from both the rim and gorge trails. There is a bathroom at the parking lot but no water stations along the way.Allow several hours to fully enjoy your hike.
We visited Hocking Hills in July and tried to see as many of the sights as possible. The entire area is beautiful. Although we went during dry weather the Cantwell Cliffs area was a very nice, and easy hike. I have read reviews that it was dangerous for young children, but if you keep your eye on them and take your time, it's really not. We hiked with a 7 and 11 year old.
This was a nice and short hike (1/2 mile) so it won't take you long to do if you're strapped for time. Nice views, but one of our least favorite of the area but we're glad we walked it. Beautiful either way in the fall!
The wonderful scenery never runs out. Bring yourself some good walking shoes because the area has miles of beauty things to see.
The upper cliffs can be wonderful to hike! Just remember to stay on the marked trails! You don't want to make a wrong step that far up!!!!
Very clean and well kept State park. Well maintained walking trails. Lots of steps, cliffs, rim views, so not for faint of heart. Very beautiful. Many picnic areas. Worth a weekend trip. Dogs welcome.
The falls were not flowing when we went, mid October, but there was a slight trickle. By the pics the falls do look lovely. The steps leading down are pretty nice. I read an article about the man hired from Tokyo who designed and built these stairs, he is quite talented and you'll see by the stairs he designed. The park is nice, well kept and well marked trails.
This formation isn't as popular as the others in the Hocking Hills area, but worth it if you want the drive and the walk around the cliffs.
It's a nice stop and some pretty views. It's a little crowded and was a little overwhelming today with "tourist" in sandals who are not really equipped to hike some of the areas. As a dog lover, this is not a place to bring your dog. There are a few difficult climbs and if you don't have control of your pet, you will be in danger of falling. Otherwise it's a pretty place.
