This cathedral is quite inspiring - the huge space is architecturally fascinating as cathedrals tend to be (especially compared to most modern more bare-bones churches.) The stained glass has been largely restored (Sunrise Studios in London) and is excellent.
We attended an evening service and there were many parishioners. It was a Catholic services in a beautiful Church.
It's deceiving from the outside, but there are so many gems in St Paul's. 4 Louis Tiffany stained glass windows tops the list, along with lots of gorgeous hand-stitched canvases telling the history of the area and the cathedral. It's also a lovely spot for prayer! Well worth the visit.
I was here for an evening meeting and had the good fortune of finding my way into the locked sanctuary before my meeting and having unhurried time to make a number of photos of a beautiful interior and a number of museum grade windows. Four of the nave aisle windows are magnificent Tiffany panels. The diversity of the transept, apse, and other aisle windows is quite impressive. I found the staff and clergy most pleasing and hospitable. One can clearly find serenity here. The church is committed to making a difference for those living downtown, often under challenging circumstances.
The 10 canvas embroideries in the Lady Chapel by resident artist Betty McLeod has to be a main reason for visiting London. I can't begin to put into words the impact it has on me, each time I see them. To make it more spectacular, plan to visit them on a Tuesday when there is always an Organ Recital at lunch, with guest organists and choirs from literally around the world; though few can compare to local organist & musican Angus Sinclair. Though not my thing, others might say the Tiffany Stained Glass is the main attraction, or the Cathedral Bells.
It's a beautiful and historic church. many weddings there Saturday's and Sunday's. Absolutely gorgeous. A very important part of London
This is your typical mid size city Cathedral. Lovely stained glass, the smell of old wood and stone, mingled with the smell of candles, incense and old books. The choir is very good and their organ a delight to listen to. The carvings and statuary are also both typical and beautiful.
As a member of this church, 2 of the reviews below are not for this cathedral. I'm thinking they were confused between London, England and London, Canada. However, this church as mentioned has 4 original Tiffany windows. The only church in London with such. Many, many artifacts on display that connect this Cathedral with the history of London. Remembrances for a lot of local people who have made significant contributions to the history of London. A lot of military history displayed going back right to the Crimean war. Check out St Aidan's chapel with its tapestries.A beautiful organ used during services and on Tuesday lunch hour recitalscheck out the web site for schedules. www.stpaulscatheral.on.ca
