It was great, sheeps walking around, high on a hill close to the coast, you can take perfect panaroma pictures here. Defitenly go here!
Fantastic spot, beautifully maintained. Lovely Museum of Maritime history and only $5.00 entry fee. All run by local volunteers. You can rent the old Pilot houses for holidays and there is a wee Cafe on site. Just a perfect spot to visit for an hour or two.
Short walk from the car parkThe view is fantastic, you can walk down to the waters edge Lots of history and information on the notice boards to read. Can be windy but still worth going for a look
we had time to spare while waiting for the penguin tour. we choose to walk about the the lighthouse property. what lovely views. try it
Unless you are a local, I'm not too sure if you'll consider this lighthouse as something special. It's got a great historical significance, of course, as it was built in 1888. It's definitely a huge structure, but it's just standing there without even a footpath leading to the lighthouse. It seemed to be a bit neglected, surrounded by newly-developing housing estate.
Agree with some of the other reviewers, if you love lighthouses you will love this one. Its one of the few working lighthouses around and not only is it fascinating, the view is wonderful. If you can stay in Low Head and watch the sunrise and the sunset! Make sure you visit on Sundays at noon when the fog horn is sounded.
...then you will like this one. Lovely candy stripes. In fact there are at least 3 lighthouses in the area, all slightly different from each other. Lovely sunrises to be seen from here..worth getting up early for.
Good View out too sea and the river mouth. The day we were there it was very windy but enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see a fishing boat also come in. Not much information on lighthouse. We enjoyed the view more than the lighthouse. Worth a visit
The drive from Launceston northbound ended at Low Head Lighthouse. Almost surrounded by 300 degrees of water. On the left is Tamar river mouth meeting the ocean, on the right is an ocean bay. It was a beautiful sunny spring day, breezy and cool. The lighthouse and the blue ocean looked like a painting.
This lighthouse shows the mouth of the Tamar River. The original cottages are there, There is a lovely walk to see the penguins at dusk. Pick the right time to go
