it is nice to walk along the river and see the nice buildings along river ,you can also take a boat ride but not as exciting as walking betwen the old buildings
The Ljubljanica river (canal) follows a U-shaped route through Ljubljana's old town, from South-West (Prulsky most [bridge]) through North-West (Tromostovje or "Triple Bridge") to South-East (Plecnikova zaparnica [sluices], thus making a curve around Ljubljana's castle on the hill at the South-Eastern side. Strolling over the banks of Ljubljanica, you'll face briljant architecture, containing many creations of Slovenia's famous architect Jose Plecnik. We were here in December, and enjoyed a lovely outfitted Christmas market that in itself already would have been worth the trip.
Worth the 5 euros pp. About 30 minutes. Quaint view of the old town from the river. They serve hot wine and you can enjoy the view of all the restuarants and families walking along the river. Peaceful.
WOW,a lot of Bars, Restaurants, siiitng outside whole year, Christmas experiance is like in Fairytail. FANTASTIC.AND SO CHEAP!
The river winds around the city and as you walk along you get to see the architecture of the buildings which are in such close proximity to the river. Some boats take people around (seemed nice to get a perspective from below) but we preferred to walk around, just wandering along window shopping, checking out the restaurants and buying souvenirs. Ljubljana is beautiful.
The views from any bridge are amazing, one can also take a cruise. The castle in the background, the sculptures along the walkway are also very beautiful. Its nice to walk along the quay.
Despite the cold January weather the river cruise was a great experience for the whole family, lots to see and history to learn from the captain.
Down town of Ljubljana is absolutely amazing and you have an opportunity to see it from another perspective! Contact Bananaway.si/en to take you stand up paddling down the river (it's not hard, I promise you won't fall of the board, as it is more stable than you can imagine). You will meet two faces of the city - the urban and wild one. It is also pretty good way to spend a day more actively!
It was great to walk around at night to observe the beautiful light decorations on buildings and the river sculptures this really brought the river and centre alive beautiful.
to see the Christmas lights app do enjoy a glass of mulled wine. Great views of the bridges. Easy to book when wondering along the river
