I took 8 Boy Scouts and 4 Scouters on a two hour ride through the Rocky Mountain National Park. In addition to having a great experience for their summer camp, the Scouts were able to complete the requirements for the Horsemanship merit badge with the help of the wranglers assigned to our group. For new riders, take the two hour ride since that is about the right time for your first time in the saddle.
We have been to Estes Park numerous times, but this was our first horseback riding experience inside the park. It was awesome! What a wonderful way to see all the beauty Rocky Mountain National Park has to offer. Our family's age ranges from 8-43 yrs old and everyone agreed it was tons of fun. Our guide, Erin, was knowledgable and friendly, making our 2 hour riding experience thoroughly enjoyable. It is my understanding that Sombrero is the only ranch in Estes that rides inside the park, and for that reason I would definitely recommend Sombrero to others. The ranchers matched each family member to a horse and constantly monitored our riding, making us all feel safe and enjoy our ride. This is definitely a must for anyone visiting Estes Park.
Took the three hour ride...great views and wildlife ( even saw a Moose!). The stables were nice and close to the best area of RMNP and parking was surprisingly easy.
I'd recommend Hi-Country Stables for their professionalism and friendliness. We had our 9 1/2 and 6 year grandchildren on a 2 hour ride and they loved it - highlight of their trip to Colorado!
My son wanted to go horseback riding, but we didn't want it to take away from our other activities we had planned as a family so we decided to go on a Monday at 8am. Our guide was Erin, our ride was just the 3 of us, which was so in nice since we were able to ask her all of our questions about the horses and the area. She was very attentive to us, when my son's saddle was slipping around she adjusted it, when my stirrups need to be shorten she was happy to help. She was a wonderful guide and we had a wonderful trip, even if it was mainly through the meadow.
The horses are well maintained and the staff very friendly. I was signed up for the estes horse ride but wanted to switch to moraine and the staff was very accommodating and allowed me to do so. i enjoyed the scenery
My family and I decided to take it easy on our tired feet, and see more of the Rocky Mountains by horseback. With little to no riding experience, we set out on a 3 hour trail ride around Beaver Meadows. The trail guides were great! They were informative, and helpful, and quickly put us at ease. The views of the mountains and local plants/animals were breathtaking! Be sure to bring a camera and extra batteries, as well as a hat. Ask for a saddle bag to keep your camera handy for all those pictures you'll want to take- much easier than getting it out of a fanny pack! Our trail guides quickly made us feel like family, and made our ride an event to remember!
We (family of four) had a 3 hours trip up the mountains. For us, this was our first outdoor horse ride. Our guide Morgan made sure that we were comfortable and explained very well what to expect during the trip.
We had the best time riding there. Everyone is very friendly and informative and the rides are just awesome with the best views I've ever seen.
My husband and I were camping in Moraine Park, so we choose Moraine Stables and felt we had the BEST experience possible. Chris was our guide and we ended up being the only two on the trail ride. Chris was awesome! He took lots of pics for us, and had so much knowledge to share about the mountain, the trees and flowers, and history! I really felt we had this personalized tour. Would absolutely return, and highly recommend Chris. We rode August 20 on Oreo and Lollipop.
