Lots of shops, restaurants, galleries, views, kayaking and a park out oat the end. It is also a historic site- make sure you read the plaque when entering the neck street.
This is a nice day trip if you like to shop and also see some of the oceanside nearby. We were here for about 3 hrs, but didn't go into too many shops since it was in the evening. There is also a beautiful music venue nearby where it looks out onto the ocean...I believe they were having a symphony performance that night. We did have supper there at a restaurant near a kayak rental place and the taffy store was delicious too...fun for watching them make the taffy!
Great place for a stroll, taking on many nice shops and galleries. Mostly pedestrian walk is a plus.
Nice little town with shops and good places to eat. Water front was nice too. We ate at the Fish Shack and the food was very good.
This little bit of New England is a charming mix of antique homes and shops. The neck is a walking area lined with tiny home with shops on the first floor. Window shopping is a delight and the view at the top of the neck is perfect. Of course, stop to take a picture of Motif #1 - the world famous red barn on the pier. There are a number of food choices and a delightfully old fashioned general store stocked with old time candy and gifts. There is parking in a lot off the main road and a shuttle will take you into the downtown area. There are public bathrooms.
We visited this area 3rd week of October. Many of the shops were already closed for the season and the remainder seemed to be open "when they felt like it". it is just a few blocks long and a pleasant way to spend a short time. Some nice views of the town and surrounding bays can be seen from this vanatge area. Parking is very limited nearby. We were able to park over on the T-Head wharf that parallels Bearskin but there aren't many spaces here either. Parking must be a "bear" in the summer months.
buying paintings from the artists themselves is a real bonus. I felt I was supporting local enterprise in an area where artists have a lean time, especially in winter.
We weren't sure how much would be open, as it was the off season. Most shops opened around 11 on the Saturday we were there. There is not a lot of parking, so in the busy season, I can bet that would be a pain. However, there's a wharf, I think it's called T-Wharf, right nearby that has free parking all down the right side. I would say maybe 15 or 20 spots. The left side is only for residents. I was told it filled up fast, and it was full by about 11. But again, this is early November, and the wind was pretty cold... My favorite shop was Extreme Peacock...or something like that. Great jewelry and a friendly proprietor. There are special shopping events in December that I'm going to try to check out. :)
My birthday destination every year! So quaint and charming, with wonderful shops and a breathtaking view! Must stop shops:exquisite jewelry from Village Silversmith, Unique clothing from Zircus, whimsical art work at the Kaihlanen gallery, the best hot dogs ever at Top Dog, romantic dining at My Place, and a fun time at the old fashion photo studio! Pick up some Fudge and stroll over to the Motif! Parking can be hard to find but well worth the walk!
My husband and I found this place by accident and I'm so happy we did! What a great place to visit! Unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, and great views at the point as well as in the harbor! We will definitely visit again!
