Nice with kids, it seems a little expensive for entry, but then you will spend much longer than you think looking at the massive scene - discovering the details and watching the trains (and cars) travelling around. Only down-side is the café which is really poor (suggest you go outside to lots of choices in Rotterdam)
Nice place well setup and the display was exceptional. great for the kids (big and little) only 500m from the Central Station First time I attempted to go there (closed for maintenance grr.) the taxi driver didn't even know it was there.
As a model railroad hobbiest looked forward to seeing this . Lots of trains and lots of scenery. But to be honest a little disappointed. Felt like we were in somebodies basement. We put a day aside for this and afterwards didn't think it was worth it. It's OK but not WOW !! Glad we received discount tickets at the information counter in Central Station.
This was an interesting place. Certainly of particular interest to those with a love of modelling and model railways, but I think a little something for all. Our youngest was kept amused with the buttons to 'make something happen' and we were kept amused not just by the many aspects of the city and region that have been captured in miniature, but also by the variety of funny details added with a sense of humour that had us scanning everywhere for something out of place/out of the ordinary.
You forgot the time when you are here. Lots of sights to see. You will truly enjoy the place by its technique that is used in it. Lighting effect can mesmerized you. Vehicles ins and outs, like trains and cars moving around. Cool!!! Love it too.
We visited this place on a rainy Sunday afternoon. If we would've have kids with us we probably would've spent a lot more time in here than just with 3 adults. The place will imitate the night time by turning off the lights and you can see the dioramas lit up. Very cool. The dioramas are rich with detail although if you expected an accurate representation of Rotterdam then you will be a bit disappointed since this place is not an exact copy of Rotterdam. There are also buttons placed all around the place and when pressing, something will happen in the diorama. There are lots of trains and cars going around the diorama so I'm 100% sure kids will love to visit this place. As an adult, one visit is enough if you're not into dioramas and model trains.
The kids loved this place, especially the lighting effects. Highly recommended for families & enjoyable for the kids. A lot of effort has gone in to this attraction & it is well maintained.
Miniworld is a very impressive model layout of areas around Rotterdam. (We have also visited Minatur Wunderland in Hamburg, which is on a totally different scale and even more impressive!).The detail is very good and there are lots of little 'extras' to find - great for kids- such as The Teletubbies, a penguin family on an ice-berg, a giant car......I could go on! We spent about three hours here looking at all the details even without any children in tow, so it would be good for them too.As one other reviewer said, there are lockers where you can put your coat or bag, making it easier to walk round and take photographs.
This is a model train lovers heaven. I really enjoyed the visit to Mini World, so many trains, so many details - you could spend hours there.Unfortunately there were very few trains running in the basement section (small scale trains).
You can easily spend over an hour here. A must-see if you are into miniature trains. Beautifully set up with lots and lots detail. The nighttime effect is very cool.
