We actually stayed across the courtyard from here and had a view of this building out of our room. It's an impressive building given it's history, and the area around it is equally as fun. I wouldn't stop by just to see it, but you'll most likely wander this way anyway, so take a look and appreciate the old building and it's architecture.
Amazing piece of architecture, this itself has a long history of being the first skyscraper in Europe more than 100 years ago.Compared with the modern buildings may seems like a simple building of 40 meters, it is undoubtedly a piece of history of this Country. The surrounding area is beautiful, especially at night along the river, the atmosphere turns on and the many pubs are full of young people filling.
The White huis was the first skyscraper of Europe, if you should call it that. It was the tallest building in Europe at that time at 10 floors, quite a lot for its time. The building luckily survived the war and still stands proudly today. Quite photogenic.
This 19th century building (finished in 1897) is 11 stories high and was the first skyscraper in Europe. Luckily it was not bombed during the 2nd world war. A momumental landmark in Rotterdam. Go there, have a drink in one of the cafe's and take a look at old and new Rotterdam.
This was the first skyscraper in Rotterdam en Europe in 1898. A masterpiece of 19th century architecture of 45 meters tall!
This is one of the last remaining building of pre WW2 Rotterdam it gives you an idea on how Rotterdam looked like before the WW2 bombardment. It's great this has been preserved as it is and we can still see it today a must see
Once the tallest building in Europe, the White House (in art nouveau style) still stands proudly near the Old Harbour. It is now a National Monument. It was miraculously spared during the bombings in 1940.
great spot in the city! great country!!!!!! Holland
This beautiful old art deco building, located near the old port, was in its day considered to be a skyscraper and was the tallest building in Europe! Tall it's not, but a beauty it is, and like pretty much everything else in Rotterdam, spotlessly clean.
An old building with a beautiful architecture situated next to Oudehaven and Wijnhaven docks.Nice refurbished.A terrace restaurant at ground floor. At walking distances are Kijk-kubus,the cube houses and Blaak metro station. The area is wonderful,a lot of old ships on the docks,a few eestaurants and bars.
