Sadly park just looks like any other communcal city park. It didn't look well maintained, there was no color at all. The lack was dirty. The only attraction was an over fed iguana!
Even though is nice to find a place in the city where there is green everywhere, in my opinion this attraction doesn't offer many thing to do, pretty much you seat around the place. You have to pay to go inside, but in my opinion is not worth it.It's easy to get the cause there is a station nearby. The neighborhood is not very good, so you have to be careful, specially at night.
Lovely to stroll in this park and watch the orchids and the lovely plants and wildlife. To get away from the madding crowd and rest under the shade of the trees and have ice cream was delightful.
it was not as good as some said, but this small botanical garden is a pleasant place. We had to wait over 30 minutes for a train ride (we have a 2 year old son), but the iguanas running free in the park were worth the trip.
Very relaxing walk through the gardens. Worth a visit. Finish by going to In Situ restaurant on the grounds for a truly spectacular meal.
Jardin Botanico de Medellin is free to enter... it has a wonderful small butterfly house, a man made lake (pond) and so many beautiful things to see. Also they have a great restaurant that has typical Colombian food. I had the plate of the day. It came with a vegetable chicken soup, a plate of mashed potatoes, meatballs and a cold vegtable salid.
Compared to US Botanical Gardens, this was more like a very, very nice city park. People having picnics, birthday parties, and on dates enjoying the surroundings. There are not many exhibits or organized displays of plant life. The butterfly house was cute, but small, only about 5-6 types of butterflies, but still fun.
This is not your typical Botanical Garden were all plants and trees are labeled but it does offer a quiet spot in the city to enjoy and wide variety of trees, palms, plants and flowers. Paved trails for the most part make this an accessible park for those who are disabled. In the center is an amazing shade structure that is made with slats of wood and houses some of the biggest Staghorn Ferns I have ever seen. This structure is also used to put on shows. There are a few places to eat including a restaurant called In Situ which has amazing food. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. Lastly there is no admission to this park which makes it even more enjoyable.
The gardens in the very center of a bustling city are breathtaking peaceful and beautiful. Ask any of staff members a question and all have a passion for the gardens. The restaurant In Situ is my most adored by myself , couple or as I have entertained a couple of times for a group of 20 or more FLAWLESS service excellent food and chic setting lucky Medellin
it is a city park, i was searching for flowers but find two species only. the rest are trees and people having fun. i liked the different plants present but i wanted flowers. in general it is free of access and i enjoyed the yoga session in it. people are happy and kind. maybe i am accustomed to US botanical gardens so i was surprised.
