This bridge is so amazing in itself not to mention you look at Lake Huron out one window and Lake Michigan out the other side of the car !
If you're staying on the mainland and not going to the island, this place is pretty fun. Definitely more modernistic than the island. But there is lots of food, shopping and concerts that go on daily. Laser shows at night, and many times fireworks. This is my second home away from home next to Frankenmuth. Beautiful sun rises that are so bright they are nearly blinding off the water.
It is very clean and fun here. A lot of souvenir stores and T-shirt shops but so worth the visit. Would definitely come back again.
We stayed right next to the Mackinaw Crossing. We really enjoyed this area. Lots of shops. Wine tasting stores. Souvenir shops... Ect.. Or you could just people watch like my wife and I did. Very relaxing. Especially after spending the day over on the island. Great place for all types. Family, couples...They even have entertainment in the evening. I would recommend seeing if you stay in Mackinaw City.
A decent open strip mall and area for people to visit when they are not at the Mackinac Island. They have laser show or live music at night in the center of mall and in our time we had a live rock band which was pretty neat. Check out the shops as some carry quite unique thing and again there are lot a of fudge shops just like on the island. You can find many restaurants in the area to dine in as well.Parking is free.
Mackinaw Crossings is a large groups of most local sellers in quaint shops surrounding a courtyard with pavilion. It also offers several restaurants, fudge/candy shops, a movie theater and other entertainment. Night the pavilion offers a laser light/music show and most nights also offers live music performances. It a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.
Cute shopping area typical of any tourist area (insert name of town). Cheap t-shirts and sweatshirts during off seasons usually owned by one company. Overpriced other household goods. Nice to wander around and look at it, but not to buy much. It is a pretty area to spend some time after sitting in the car for hours!
Mackinaw Crossings is very cool. I had great time wandering around the place. The copper statue guy was fun to watch. The lser show was a big disappointment however. Just some cartoon shapes on a screen. Boring! Ok for little kids maybe but make one for adults too!
The Mackinaw area is known for the best fudge in the world. Samples are given out at many of the shops. Try some you will not regret it. Lots of shops at the Crossings to wander around in. The usual tourist ones plus and others. We enjoyed the old fashioned hardware store on main street. Great place to go on a rainy or overcast day to get away from the motel room or camp ground.
We love to shop Mackinaw crossings every time we come to Mackinaw. It's a beautiful shopping area with stores for everyone. I love the beautiful fountain.
