The falls were nice. The 2.3 mile hike to the falls to mostly up up up on rocks. There are a couple flat stretches of less than 200 feet. We had been spoiled by short hikes (<0.2 miles) to amazing waterfalls in Northern VT and NH. We have one kid who loves hiking and enjoyed the challenge. Our other kid hates hiking. The trail is poorly marked less than a mile to the fall. Fortunately, someone warned us prior to the fork in the trail (go to the right at the fork even if the tree leaning to the left has a blue trail mark). The 4.6 mile hike took us just under 2 hours that does not include our stay at the falls.
Went on a backpacking trip around Stratton and Borne Ponds with my family. This place was so amazing!
A comfortable hike through woodland leading to picturesque falls where you can be up close and personal.
An easy hike right out of Manchester,VT for the whole family. Our 4 year old grandson was able to do it. Bring your lunch and enjoy by the falls.
Our family of 5 enjoyed this hike tremendously. It's about 4.5 miles round-trip, which is not short but the walk is relatively easy (took us 2-2.5 hours there, and 1.5 hours back). Most of the walk to the falls is flat or an easy uphill, with just a few short steeper climbs. The waterfalls themselves are beautiful and well worth the trip, and the entire forest, with endless streams, mushrooms and other attractions make this a very attractive way to spend half a day.
It is not well marked! The link is 2 miles away from the trail head, after asking for directions and walking 45 min we never found it
My husband and I hiked to the falls during our anniversary trip to the area. I thought the hike was easy/moderate (my husband may not agree) and the falls at the end were a great reward. It took us exactly 3 hours including ample time at the falls taking pictures. There are a lot of loose rocks in some areas so be careful on the way down to not slip.
This hike was very rocky and uphill most of the way. We walked for well over 75 minutes and never found the falls. This has to be way more than 2.5 miles!!
After reading reviews we decided to take this trail. A clear day at the end of December was the perfect weather to hike as it was not too hot and the snow gave the place a great view. The path goes across some streams, rocky terrain and (in our case) it had some slippery ice parts. There is a log where to write when you enter the trail and when you leave it. We took some sandwiches with us and ate them sitting on a rock at the bottom of the fall, quite nice.Totally worth it!
This is a hidden wilderness gem in southern Vermont. There are several private "wild" lakes and lots of hiking. Or you can go to the Lye Brook falls that are majestic. Only a couple of miles.
