Great view of Lake MI and the Manistique port. Lighthouse is so gorgeous, especially at sunrise! Highly recommend visiting here if you are ever in Manistique.
We stayed in Manistique for the night while on a trip through the UP, to top off a great stay in the area we took a nice walk along the boardwalk to the lighthouse to view the sunset. It was a very peaceful and scenic walk. Would love to take this stroll again someday.
If you find yourself driving along the south border of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, one of the many places you might want to stop and further enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan is Manistique. Less than 100 miles west of the Big Mac Bridge, Manistique boasts a very nice and easily accessible boardwalk along the north shores of Lake Michigan. Ample parking and public restrooms make this attraction a convenient 'pull-over' and pit stop whether travelling west or east. Very handicap friendly...making this experience available to all. The boardwalk connects to the breakwater/pier going out to the lighthouse so that you can enjoy the view from a distance or walk out and get up-close and personal with the lighthouse.Whether you are a morning or evening person, both sunrises and sunsets are served up in glorious display depending on your preferred viewing time. So, take a stretch break or spend a night in Manistique. Either way, you will enjoy the visual beauty and soothing sounds of the waves along the shore as you walk this natural area just a few feet from the highway.
A great walking place very close and next to down town, great for power walkers and walking your dog , and has little wildlife info signs.
Right across the road from our motel. Stunning views of Lake Michigan. Paved so accessibility is no issue.
We passed by this lighthouse when the sun was setting and stopped just to walk around. It was absolutely beautiful and fairly easy to reach the lighthouse. The waves were a little high that day and kept breaking over the concrete boardwalk so we did get a little wet, but it was worth it. The view was amazing and very few people were out there. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Manistique.
Had a good time walking out to the lighthouse on a windy and blustery day in June 2013. Worth a stop if you are in the area. Water looked very cold.
Nice boardwalk along river. We were unable to walk the whole boardwalk due to weather but we did walk out to lighthouse. I will have to come back and walk the whole walk which I think was 1.8 miles not including walk to lighthouse
We started in the middle and went to the lighthouse first. You need to have sure footing to access the lighthouse, and prepare to get wet from wave spray. Very beautiful views. Many people were enjoying the beaches with their children and grandchildren. We continued up into town. Some construction blocked our path, so we had to cross the street at the park downtown. We had lunch and then returned and went the other direction. All the parking areas were clean and had restrooms. A dedication ceremony was going on for the Carl Bradley park. We meet a rescue worker and another man who were connected to the shipwreck that occur off the point. By the time we returned from the end of the trail the dedication ceremony was occurring. Even though lots of people were in attendance, there was plenty of parking and room for all. I really enjoyed our afternoon along the shore, but I forgot my sunscreen. Please remember yours!
Very pretty walk along the shore, but got a bit long for the kids (it was a hot day). We mostly saw plants, birds, and watched the waves. The information plaques were very helpful/fun to read as we went along.
