Small but beautiful castle overlooking lake Garda. There is a small admission fee to tour the grounds, make sure to go to the top of the tower where you will have 360 degree views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
We spent a couple of hours here visiting the Natural History Museum, just walking around the spectacular castle. not at all boring but very interesting and definately
Really enjoyed our castle visit. There is a museum re the wildlife in Lake and surrounding area and plenty of bits to explore including a very high viewpoint. Lovely place to get married I am sure.
The old town of Malcesine is charming, the alleys are romantic and mysterious, and castello Scaligaro is beautiful (and what a location!!). We were lucky to climb the tower when the bell rang. Wow, how the kids loved that. It came by surprise seconds after by kids hit the bell with his hands yielding a faint ring. And then came the real thing. Imagine their surprise. The view is wonderful. A bit pricy entrance, especially for the adults, but I think it's worth the effort. One hour is enough. Better in the late afternoon. Don't forget to try the ice cream right outside the gate. You will never have enough of it.
Nice View of the Lake and town from the castle. Climb the stairs of the tower to the top and see 360 degrees. We also saw where you can hold a wedding ceremony. Beautiful setting for those that want a special castle wedding in Italy.
Malcesine Castle is well worth a visit. Its museum is very informative providing a history about the castle and the surrounding area and it also provides an insight into the lake and the nature that surrounds it.
Good value visit, great views, interesting small museum. Many steps so not easy if you have walking difficulties. We went to the top of the tower which we thought was worth the climb, if you are on the hour the bell strikes! It is also a popular wedding venue - one was taking place when we visited. Reduced entry fees if you are senior, proof needed
We got married in August 2013 at Malcesine Castle with the incredible help of the ladies at Lake Garda Weddingsl. Would absolutely recommend them- and the setting!
loved the quirky little streets leading up to the castle and the freedom to wonder around. lots of restaurants close by
Beautiful setting on the lake. A museum too! Plus you always see someone getting married there too! A must see if you are in town.
