Built in 1821, this is the oldest working lighthouse on the Great Lakes. In addition to being pristine, pretty and recently renovated. The entire park in which it is located is quiet and pleasant with beautiful views on Eire. I am told by locals that when you climb the 77 steps to the top, the views are spectacular. It was closed when I visited, but I think it’s open on weekends. There is also a small museum in an adjacent house, but it’s closed for the season.
We pack a picnic & fly kites in the large open area. Its a great place to spend the day. The kids love walking the rocks on the shoreline & the lighthouse is just beautiful.
This is a very accessible lighthouse, easy parking, great photo op. Lots of interesting little shops on the way.
Great venue for a friend's wedding. Beautiful view of the lighthouse and grounds. Great views of Lake Erie and the many pleasure boats nearby.
Walking distance to the oldest operating lighthouse on the great lakes. Tours available during the summer
This place is so beautiful and relaxing. Amazing views of Lake Erie. I could spend all day here!! A must see!
We just loved the views of the Lake from this location. I wish the lighthouse would have been open so we could have went inside!!!
This is a pristine area of beauty. The only disappointment was that the lighthouse and the museum were closed because of the time of year. They have large binocular devices to view the islands and surrounding lake. It was worth the stop to take in the sights and stretch our legs.
Our family held there wedding at the light house, and it was awsome... Everyone had a good time it was very pretty.. People visiting the site stood around and watched.. I recommend this site. I know it cost to go up in the light house.
One of the best lighthouses. Staff is super friendly and funny. Would like to find the off season times so to photograph it better without other to tourists. I am sure the staff can help with that. I will be back for season's changes.
