Stopped by Glorie Farm as part of a self-created tasting tour of the area on a Saturday afternoon. The winery was not busy and we tried some good wines. The tasting was $5 per person and included a glass.
after driving up beautiful winding roads, we arrived at glorie at..gasp....closing time! but no worries; the owner graciously locked the door behind us and gave us a 45 min private tasting! a superb selection of whites and nice reds as well. a unique blending of grapes AND fruit from their orchards across the way. the jumpin jazz was my fave and there's also a great riesling. buy a case and your club member with 20% off future buys. cheers!
Another winery on the Shawungunk wine trail which is becoming one of our favorites. They make some truly excellent reds. This winery is located atop Mt. Zion up a steep, winding road. The trip is worthy it. A modern tasting room is open and is still being worked on, but the tasting experience remains excellent. We took home a case. We will be back next year.
I had the Pumpkin wine at a local restaurant, and loved it ! It was light, refreshing and tasty. We drove out to the winery two times to try to visit and puchase some, but, each time it was not open. I will persevere !
We showed up on a tuesday, our rest day from climbing, and it was not open even though the wine tour people told us it was. The owner came out and agreed to give us a tasting anyways. The wine was good and the view was also nice.
