From the entrance hall, the armory with every inch of space decorated with pistols and swords from the Tower of London, through the magnificent state rooms to the enormous kitchen, this is spectacular. Most castles and stately homes can feel lifeless, but not Culzean. Maybe because of our guide, Billy, we found the whole experience, to call it a tour seems to trivial, to be a treat.
Quite the vistas & enjoyed every part of walking the castle & seeing how the affluent lived. Its décor is perfect & breathtaking. Thoroughly had fun exploring the grounds & the cafe' located near the gift shop has a wide assortment off pastries, beverages, sandwiches & fruit for sale. There are 2 gift shops. One near the home & the other on the way out. The entireexperience was like a page out of time gone by.
Went there as a tourist even though I live near it its a beautiful place the house is not open until april but the grounds are still good to go round. I ate in the self service restaurant and the food was very good
Stunning location. Very impressive rooms with interesting exhibits. The staff are superb. We were here for their Christmas event and this is beautifully done with lovely themes in the different rooms. A great place to visit.
Well worth the trip to see this magnificent castle. The gardens are beautiful and the history and architecture of the castle is amazing. If you have a National Trust card, you can get in for free.
The castle is nice inside and the rooms are nicely laid out. The room stewards were friendly and helpful on the whole. The rooms facing out to sea have stunning views.
The docents were very informative and the views and grounds are spectacular! Note the many varieties of plants and trees, beautiful even in mid October. A small souvenier shop is worth a visit.
Please see my review under hotels. This castle does have rooms available and when I return to Scotland with my husband, I plan to book us there! The views of the Irish Sea, the beautifully decorated and historic home are wonderful. The tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable, as well as family friendly. thank you for your hospitality!
Fifth visit........a must for the Ayrshire coast. Castle excellent, guides very helpful and friendly. Food very good and in late Autumn, magical walks in the extensive woodland
