This is a beautiful lake when full, but recent droughts have left it a little low. There's a lovely campground, a cafe, boat docks, boat rentals. It's a fun place. Drive up the mountains to get there is half of the fun because of beautiful sceneryJane L.
It's close to Medford and pleasant. The nearby scenery is gorgeous. The lake is, well, it's a lake. Since I'm not a "water-baby" or a fisherman, it doesn't do much for me except be a pretty view.
Howard Prairie Resort which is run by Jackson county parks is a great getaway in Jackson County. generally good fishing, good place to hunt mushrooms. Has a restauraunt that is pretty good.
My wife and I have come here quit often over the years for lunch, takes us about an hour to get here from home. Yesterday we came, parked and took the dog to the boat ramp to get him wet before we went in to eat. Walked the dog around the parking lot for a quick drip dry, gone about 6 minutes come back to lady writing us a parking ticket. Tried to tell her were just here to eat, she has quit an attitude. End up having to go over her head to get it fixed. Had a good lunch anyway the food and waitress were great. Whole thing kinda reuined the day.
One of my favorite places to fish at.Beautifull area with all the boats out on the water.Enjoy watching all the different birds that frequent the area. The Restaurant is pretty good, little spendy.
Lake, trails, bike paths, views, animals... all within 45 minutes of most of the Rogue Valley. 4 great camping areas, some with power. And the food at the lodge is darn good. What a great place for a day trip!
A local sailing club (Rogue Yacht Club) hosts regattas on this lake, and they are excellent. These are not really large yachts, but smaller rigs. Sail on!
Nice Jackson county campground about 4500ft in elevation. Large sites with lots of trees, but not very level for large rvs. There were deer, ducks, geese and two bald eagles fishing across the lake. Sail boats, ski boats paddle boats and of course fishing boats. They have Friendly staff and host. Little store with mostly fishing tackle, cafe, soft serve ice cream and Marina. Clean restroom and 25 cent showers. We had no internet or satellite. Others had satellite dishes on a 100ft cable out in a clearing. We did have cell service. Very peaceful, even with it being a busy weekend. We will return.
My favorite mountain lake around here. We rent a patio boat for the family and a couple of the kids' friends, stay out for 4-6 hours fishing and swimming. Got some big bass and trout last few years.
Great place to get away from the hectic! A great place to fish, relax by the lake, camp in the many campgrounds around the lake or at the resort that has full hook-up. The store and restaurant at the resort have the basics for supplies.
