We stopped here with local friends to see the art for about an hour as we arrived late in town. The museum is not huge so very easy to stroll through and could spend more time. They have a nice variety of personal collections with often changing displays. The children's section with hands on is great, along with available classes. The staff was very friendly.
This place was amazing, and free to boot! Great place to go on a hot Alabama summer day... The artwork was fabulous, the kids section was pretty darn awesome. One really amazing feature of this museum is the stain glass windows and Art works, the museum created for children.
I've been going here since I was a kid. There's a lot of great pieces here including but not limited to paintings, sculptures, china, ect. One of my favorite parts is in the kid's center they have a screen you can move in front of that puts off rainbow projections of yourself. It's great!
Growing up near this Museum, I kind of took it for granted that someplace this nice included admission for free. As I've begun traveling across the nation, I've realized that museums this nice rarely don't charge admission. It's a beautiful venue filled with equally beautiful art and they've had some pretty impressive exhibitions and lectures over the years. The children's part of the museum has really grown over the years and is a great place to see regardless of whether you're in the museum with kids. It's filled with all sorts of interactive exhibits that are fun for any age. The museum shop is also a great place to visit and support the Museum. Don't miss this - it's an incredible attraction and bargain!
The museum has a beautiful building and an interesting collection. It was a great visit. The special exhibition dresses were unusual.
Lovely lakeside area with interesting paintings. Saturday morning brunch tasteful and well served. Great meeting place.
Nice balance between permanent displays and visiting exhibits. Very nice cafe, and gift shop with variety of merchandise by local artists. No admission fee
The grounds are peaceful, great selection of art work. It was free, but one can leave a donation. Like how they incorporated out door art work with the windows. Beautiful sunset views.
I only got to see the visiting exhibit, "Reflections" which was well worth the visit alone. It is the private collection of Myrna Colley-Lee and has wonderful pieces of African-American art. I was also pleasantly surprised to meet Ms. Colley-Lee while I was there!I was greeted warmly by the staff and I look forward to going back to spend more time in this beautiful museum. The park around it is gorgeous!
I love the collection of immigrant american art work and the Cézanne still life on top of the Tiffany glass expo, the view from the glass room was pretty cool and worth it all together.
