A truly blissful trip down the river on a hand crafted raft made from bamboo - punted by charming rafters who pointed out various things of interest - flora, birds etch.Loved it!
We first rafted many years ago with our then 10 year old daughter. Our Captain was Walker and he entertained us the entire time and had our daughter captivated. We returned years later, sans daughter, on our 25th anniversary trip. We asked the captain if he new of Walker and were told that he was on the raft ahead of us. At the end of rafting we found him in the parking lot. After a brief conversation he remembered talking with our daughter (described her to a T and remembered her questions exactly). An amazing man and a relaxing and memorable outing. Highly recommended.
My fiancée and I went rafting during this stay in Montego Bay. It was a quick trip but absolutely beautiful! We both got a chance to try paddling, it's hard work! They work hard. Enjoyed the stories our guide provided as well.
Very romantic place, quite and safeGood captain explaining nature, trees and birdsI recommand this visit
You walk into a nearly flat elongated bamboo raft and float lazily down the river. The "driver" uses a pole like a gondola in Venice. Along the way there are people people on other rafts making, personalizing local works of art.
Great once we got there Captain Murphy great fun and very relaxing but too us 90 minutes from Montego Bay because of all the pick ups
Great attraction through tropical rain forest on guided tour. Your guides are friendly and work hard. Beautiful restful tour!
Sadly it was a really wet day when we went rafting down the Martha Brae. But it's a beautiful stretch of river, and our raft captain kept us cheered with jokes and songs all the way down. I'm sure it would be lovely in the sun.
This tour was beautiful and peaceful. Everyone who worked there was friendly and very easy to get along with. Our tour guide taught us about many trees along the river and helped make our time very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a romantic or peaceful tour.
We did the bamboo raft trip on the Martha Brae and it was wonderful. It's a short ride from the cruise ship. Spence was our guide and he was awesome. He had been doing this for 45 years, so we were in good hands. They make their own bamboo rafts by hand. It was very easy to get in and out of the rafts, just a little walking. They put a cushion under and behind you so it is very comfortable. The water was silky smooth and a beautiful ride down the river. There were vendors on the way that were selling anything from beer to conch shells, but mostly it was peaceful and quiet. We had a good jerk chicken lunch before heading back to the ship. They do hit you up to buy their handmade items, but these people are poor. I didn't have any trouble just giving him an extra big tip - it's a hard life in Jamaica. This was our favorite excursion of the cruise. If you like excitement, this isn't for you, but if you're into nature and peace and quiet, this is great.
