Worth visiting. Cute little streets, quaint houses and friendly people. Cool in summer for its intelligent medieval architecture of narrow streets and stone structures. Third largest church in Greece with Ikones from Constantinople and elsewhere dating back to 700aD.
Wonderful quiet town - with a great taverna in the main square that has some of the best food I have ever eaten in Greece (I am greek, and have been going there for 50+ years, so am speaking from experience). this is the place to stay if you are going to Chios.
Sweet, beautiful, well-preserved, safe for children, and relaxing all at once, the town of Mesta is a must for anyone visiting Chios!
The fortress of Mesta is frozen in time, from the moment you walk through the iron gates, you can feel the presence of the past, wondering what it was like to be in constant ready state to fight a pirate raid ( port not far, also a must see) The church wow, we met Helen who gave us an hour to explain the frescos the painting the icons. THIS IS ONE of the most amazing churches we have been in the world .. truly you need to see the art , priceless and not to give it away Leonardo and friends all left their mark here.. makes other sites loss a bit of luster.. the town square was closed , due to getting ready for holiday., however one of the owners came out with Ozu and fish,,, no charge, would not expect.. We sat in the square smiling and just in awe. GO .. a MUST
It is impossible to believe when walking through this fortress that time has stood still. The village is so well preserved that you forget we are in the 21century. The small boutique hotels and rooms have kept their renovations true to the medieval village. The food is mostly good home made greek although a few more modern cafes have set up shop in the fortress. The crystal clear beaches of apothika are close by . The evenings in the square are relaxing with plentiful local wine and food...A visit to Chios is not complete without Mesta
Very nice medieval city with a great church dedicated to Angels Gavriil and Michail. The small square in the centre of the village is a place to enjoy your coffee. Take a chance to walk around the small alleys that remind you of another era.
arabayla gidip yayan gezebileceğiniz her sokağı tarih kokan yer.
