If you like camping away from crowded parks and do not mind the lack of amenities, this is a fantastic place to camp. The lake has a boat launch, there are great hiking trails, and a really good mountain bike trail. The mountain bike trail is a blast to ride, nice and flowing, and very scenic. The campsite are well spread out and cater for tents to RVs. Some of the sites have nice views of Deep Lake. There are vault toilets and fresh water pumps. A small playground is at the park. The park is clean and the park management are wonderful.
A very nice area to visit, stay and enjoy ...trails and water features and affordable ...family friendly
If you like being out in the woods in a peaceful place this is the place to go. Deep like rustic loop in the fall is just about awesome. I have been going here for years. Rangers come through to make sure everything's okay from time to time which is good. If you like rustic this is it!
Has a large beach and picnic area for family gatherings. Large campground with good facilities. Large lake to fish and swim. Nearby hiking and mountain bike trails.
The Main/Modern Campground is nice, bathrooms are on the better side for a state park. The playground is 3 swings so not too much. The actual shoreline of the beach was not too big, however, there is a HUGE sandy beach complete with 2 volleyball courts and the 3 swings as well as probably an acre of sand. The water is shallow, very warm and the Sand is super soft. No rocks and no muck :) Also, they have a tractor to grade to sand everyday so it's always fresh. the Canal is lines with grass and there is an area fenced off to walk up and down between the camp sites and the water. THe boat luanch has a grassy area with picnic tables and there is a huge area at the end of the campground next to the beach that is all grass with quite a few picnic tables and trees so you can relax next to the water. This area does not allow pets. It is a short bike ride or walk to the Day use area that has a gigantic inflatable waterslide that is open daily. It is $10 for an all day braclet. Or $1-2 a ride. The tickets can be purchased in the camp store which does not have much but it does have a few munchies ice cream and baged ice. The outside sites on the oppisite side then the canal are quite large and offer some privacy(some, not much but a lot compared to a lot of start parks). We will for sure return. It was a great quick weekend getaway.
We see deer, great blue herons, sand hill cranes, and even an eagle! It is so relaxing to be in nature like this.
My wife and I tried to go for a walk on one of the hiking trails but couldn't find them. The road into the park was barely cleared of snow, the parking lots weren't cleared at all. There were absolutely no signs indicating where to go for the hiking trails. We gave up and left. I can understand that this has been a harsh winter, but if you're not going to bother to clean up then don't even open the park, we wouldn't have wasted our time driving through it.
A wonderful experience for family young and old. A great place to ride bikes, swim, use the water slide...
A very nice lake to kayak in...... although it is an all sports like so we stayed close to shore. easy to get in at the shallow launch
We are lucky to have such a great outdoor park so close to Middleville. It is a great place to explore and boat.
