This "house" needs a lot of work. The place is run by only 2 people,(they are the cleaners, recepcionist, managers, etc) husband and wife,The husband believes he is a vietnam heroe and is constantly checking the entrance to avoid turists taking pictures (without paying) If you want to pay over $250 and stay in a place following this family's rules do it. I felt observed all the time and I just wanted to leave early in the morning. There is no professionalism. It's like being in jail paying. The water in the pool is black. full of frags
Remarkable place. Looking forward to go back there.Looking forward to go back there.Looking forward to go back there.Looking forward to go back there.
peter greeted us at the entrance--to me he was another Vietnam vet --with a extreme imagination--and a lot of creative time on his hands--welcome home brother--
When looking for a B&B to stay in while in Millbrook, NY, I found this castle. It was hand-made by the owners over the past 40 years or so. The owner is an artist with a taste for the medieval and whimsical. We stayed in the tower room, and the accommodations were very pleasant. The bed was comfortable, the private bathroom had everything we needed and the complimentary coffee and coffee maker in the room was great!Since this is the owner's residence too, I'd call before arriving.
I wouldn't have found Wing Castle without Tripadvisor, so it is my hope that this review brings others to this wonderful place. My husband and I stayed in the dungeon for one night. Just about every inch of each the buildings are filled with magical finds. You could play a game of "I spy" for weeks and still not uncover all of the treasures. The recycled materials come to life in their new environment. If you are looking for a fun experience and can survive without television, this place is for you -just bring a good book, a bottle of wine, and a vivid imagination. Thank you to the Wing family for opening up their home. We could have listened to Peter Wing's stories all day.
I went to Wing's Castle to hideaway and work on my novel. I couldn't have picked a better place. Peter and Toni are fabulous and their home is a living work of art. It was a great place for inspiration. They gave me some private space in their "Buddha Room" out back and I got much more work done than I expected! Call well in advance, they book up on the summer weekends pretty fast.
My daughter took me here as a birthday gift and we had a wonderful time. Make sure not to bring small children and don't come if you are expecting a Homewood Suite or similar facility. The place is spectacular. Make sure to take the tour.
Mr. Wing is a true craftsman and visionary as 80% of this amazing castle is built from recycled material. The best part--it's secluded!
I arrived on a Saturday to find a sign in the driveway stating that tours would only be on Sundays. I was a bit disappointed, it looks like it is situated on a nice piece of property, but not sure I would ever go back just for a tour... It's remote, with some amazing properties around it. It was also a bit hard to find, my GPS didn't map it's location well.
MY mom and I walked the castle maybe 10 years ago back then the tour was $6.PP I found out about the castle from an old magazine Called COUNTRY DISCOVERIES (which has since gone out of business)...The owner Mr wing led the tour, I found it to be very interesting given he build it with no real know how in this sort of building My mom wasn't impressed
