My wife and I found this privately funded zoo outside of Las Vegas, they rescue animals and keep them in a viewing location in Moapa. Animals range from camels and zebras to otters to lemurs, bear cats and kangaroos. After our trip last year we decided to have them bring some animals to the house in Henderson for our daughters birthday party. We had a miniature horse, a lemur, and several other primates but you can choose what you want. The kids had a blast, best party ever!
Visited recently on a private tour, they are getting closer to reopening. We've been coming to Vegas from LA every year for five years now just to visit Roos. Amazing interactions with tons of animals, from kangaroos and capybaras, to lemurs, monkeys, otters, etc. and lots in between. Brought our one year old this year and hope to come back with her many times. Thanks Roos!!!
First let me say this, to the reviewer who said - save your money and go to San Diego....really? We need things like this to keep our Nevada money in Nevada and give our kids something to do. There is nothing wrong with this zoo. It is a small zoo and not expected to be a huge zoo. It is ran by volunteers through donations. I really don't think for $30 for my family I can go to San Diego and have a monkey sit on my daughter's back and play with her and my hubby for at least five minutes....and that was only part of the great adventure. They do need more kangaroos, but that takes time and money, which they will get there. I totally loved the zoo.
If you are an animal lover then this is the place to go for a hands-on, probably once a lifetime experience. The staff were extremely knowledgeable. We had enough people for a private tour. Would recommend going during cool time of year as it does get hot out there. Their tours run 2 hours. But to be able to touch a kangaroo, camel, sloth, monkies was fabulous. Talk about GREAT PICTURES. It's like going to visit Dr. Doolittle. GO!
We have been to Roos N More 4 or 5 times in the last 5 years, Every trip to Las Vegas includes a visit to this great interactive facility. It dosen't mater if you 6 or 26 or 66, you'll remember this place for a long time. The staff is so nice and accomodating in every way. You can feed, hold and play with an exceptional variety of animals. Not through cages or enclosures, but face to face and one on one. Kids go nuts experiencing this once in a lifetime event. it is the best entertaining $10,00 you can ever spend. (A hint- Bring your carrots, apples, bannanas, and grapes to really get a treat for both you and the animals)Mike Jakubowski- Florida
You will learn about, feed, and get to hold animals and all for $10. There are kangaroos, a sloth, porcupines, otters, many lemurs, a capuchin monkey, a toucan, all types of birds, huge snakes, a caracal cat, and many more! Check them out on Roosnmore.com because they are only open 2 times a month! You will love this and so will your kids!
I had a great time at Roos n More Zoo but felt it was a little overpriced. It is hands on which is great and you are allowed to take pictures with the animals. To get in was $10 but after that everything else was extra i.e., the kangaroo area was extra ($7), the otter area was extra ($15) and if you wanted to feed the animals that was also extra (In all it was $32 plus per person). Since there is no longer a zoo in Las Vegas this is pretty much the only chance to see such exotic animals unless you want to make the journey to San Diego.
I would highly recommend the private tour. The price is the same as long as there are 25 or less participants. Even with only 4 people we felt it was well worth the money. We got to hold onto and take pictures with all kinds of animals. One of the lemurs used me as a perch to get onto the roof and we had to try to coax it back down. You would never get this kind of experience at an actual zoo. The woman who runs the shelter and gave the tour is very knowledgeable and truly cares for these animals. I'm not an animal person (booked this for my fiance) but I have tremendous respect for what they are doing in regards to rescuing these animals. I got the feeling that this is not intended as a commercial venture and is more about raising money to support the shelter and that kind of passion is pretty rare.
Currently Roos n more is only doing private tours and I must say that the extra cost of a private tour is absolutely worth it. My husband isn't an animal lover and he even had fun! The guide took us around and basically let us decide which animals we wanted to see and spend our time with. Some animals couldn't be held (including the sloth unfortunately) but lots of others could. The staff was friendly and let us start our tour early since we accidentally got there early. I highly recommend this experience to everyone and I'm sure I will be back In the future :)
This is such a gem of a zoo! It is run by credible, kind, creative people who care about the animals. As a tourist you really get a once in a lifetime experience. Year round they have great open zoo days and special holiday themed days. It is inexpensive to go and you get to hold a monkey, lemur, pet kangaroos, and truly interact with animals you never normally get experiences with. It is about an hour of the city, so you will have to have your own way to get there....but it is soooo worth it. Check their website for days and times they are open.. So awesome!
