At the moment Charleton is closed for a very well deserved rest for owners and staff! This a wonderful place for all age groups and with the free playground area, parents can relax while the youngsters enjoy all the toys, trampolines, go carts, fort, etc etc! During the open season Karen and her very efficient and attentive staff serve excellent home made food....and the strawberry tarts are very popular! Special seasonal events for Christmas, Hallowe'en, Easter etc are also well worth a visit. During the fruit season you can pick your own berries and/ or you can purchase them and other fresh farm produce in their well stocked shop. There is ample parking space within easy walking distance to all the attractions. If you are feeling energetic you can walk or cycle from the nearby town of Montrose. There are too many other good things about Charleton to mention so check it out.....you won't be disappointed!
If you have children then there is lots to do and the cafe is lovely. You can buy from the shop as well all that they grow in the gardens.
Fantasic place to visit as long as its dry. Great outdoor play area with huge castle and an endless amount of toys to keep the kids amused. There is also an opportunity to pick your own fruit which my son loves along with lovely food and a farm and gift shop.A must do in the summer holidays!
I went with a friend for a cuppa. The cakes are to die for! I can recommend the Strawberry tart and Chocolate brownie. Lots for children to do. Adults must supervise, which is understandable. Large shop. You can buy fresh berries or pick your own. We thought the berries were a little pricey, but a lovely place to spend a morning/afternoon. Dogs are welcome, we saw some staff bringing a bowl of water to a thirsty dog outside.
I visited this place today for the first time and I definitely won't be going back! That's not to say my son didn't have fun but as an adult there were one to many questionable things going on. First there was a hole in one of the trampolines, small yes but shows a lack of maintenance. One of the slides was very steep and my son got hurt going down it. Some of the cars outside were broken. A sign that said hell on it which was quite funny to be honest but I'm sure religious people would disagree. Oh and the feaces covered barn with a dead and decaying bird inside was the cherry on top. This was in easy reach and full view of any person that went in. Also I personally didn't appreciate the creepy gypsy mannequin and the slaughter house style plastic curtains but hey maybe I'm just being picky.
Enjoyed an afternoon with the grandchildren picking our own fruit then a trip to the cafe where they serve excellent strawberry fruit tarts to die for. Loads of other food and snacks were available from the menu. The shop on site also sold the pre-picked fruit if you are unable to pick your own, the containers although comparable in price with the supermarkets had a far greater quantity for your money and with the freshness of the product made for a great buy. Also the site has an area for the children to enjoy a number of different outdoor challenges while the adults can enjoy the food on offer at the cafe, outside seating was available.
Had a wonderful time. Have loads of things to do. I went there to pick strawberries, but wasn't able to as there were none. But they had other fruits such as raspberries ,gooseberries and currents. So loved picking them. There cafe was yummy and very family friendly. I would advise a call to check the availability of strawberries if you are only interested in them.
This is the place to entertain the kids for the day. Safe, large play area for the kids with areas for picnics. Pick your own Raspberries, Strawberries and Redcurrants. The café both outside and inside serve regular cafe type food but the desserts are fantastic. If your on a diet do not order a sweet but the kids will love them. Strawberries, Cream and pancakes to die for.
Took my grandson to the farm and he loved it they had the place so well decorated frightening spiders, creepy scary witches and he had to find a rat in a load of gunk to get a prize. Great day out
I live in Montrose and walk out for a snack.During summer and autumn it is very fresh produce. Salad are most enjoyable and of course the fruit dishes are nice. There is also an excellent play area for young children and on nice summer days this is always well attended.
