If you're in eastern Oklahoma in December, visit Honor Heights at night for the most beautiful holiday lights you'll probably ever see. The line of cars making the transit through the park is long, and some tend to stop to take pictures, making the drive time through the display longer than if you were driving through during the day, but it's definitely worth the time.
Was back in Muskogee for my mother's funeral and all my immediate family and I took a drive to Honor Heights Park and it was just what we needed. Such a beautiful place, peaceful, calm and beautiful surroundings. The lakes, ponds, picnic areas was perfect.
This is a really lovely park with some nice walking trails. It is a great place to take a book and just enjoy nature. Many largess towns do have such an appealing attraction. If you are in town for any length of time be sure to enjoy it.
The lights were wonderful, they covered a lot of ground we felt like we were on a high hill. They also had a place to ice skate and to buy snacks. Cost a donation.
There are not a ton of things to do in Muskogee, but it is nice to know that there is a year-round park to visit nearby. We did not visit during any special event or anything, but we did take a visit to the Butterfly House in the middle of the park. It was $3 per person to visit the quaint garden and the Butterfly House. The Butterfly House was very small, but pretty. We were told by the lady working in the gift shop that this time of year is when the butterflies aren't as numerous as usual, but it was still a neat visit. We will definitely go back later in the year as we were told that an ice skating rink will be set up around Thanksgiving. As far as parks are concerned- this was one of the nicer ones that I have been to. After speaking with other residents and friends, we were advised to come back during the time that the Azaleas were in bloom, and also during Christmas, when the lights and the decorations are up. We will definitely return.
Nice park, lots of activities during the year, concerts and a great place to visit for Christmas. Lovely gardens
This park is one of the best things about Muskogee. It is large and is landscaped beautifully. It is a must see during azalea season and also to see the lights at Christmas.
The Christmas light display is awesome and the choice of music synchronized with them was very good. The trolley was taken and driver explained the route and listening to the music would be better after passing the arch of lights.
Went for the first time after visiting muskogee at Christmas for the last 4 years and it was worth it. Great place to being children and adults. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
There are many activities in the park all year long. Garden of Lights at Christmas, Azalea festival in the spring, Party in the Park rotary wine event. Music events and many families have parties in the out door areas. Walking paths , and children's play areas with splash pad make this a place for everyone.
