We will make a special trip to Natchez just for this wine. The sweet muscadine wines are great. I would definitely recommend if you are traveling through Natchez to make a pit stop at this winery.
I loved going Old South.. my fiance loved it too.. the founders son gave us a tour and everyone there was very friendly. . It was no pressure to buy anything.. he answered all of our questions and poured us a tasting of everything. . We bought four bottles for her to take back to San Antonio. . And her family back home loved it.. so now every time I go to San Antonio im obligated to bring along Miss Scarlet and Blue Bayou haha!
We have visited wineries in the southwest, mid west, east coast and south east. We stopped looking for wineries once we found Old South Winery. The Muscadine Wines have a unique taste that really pleases us. They have a fantastic variety of wines - something for anyone. The proprietors are very friendly and make a visit very pleasurable. They have a free tasting of all their wines. We don't need tasting, as we know exactly what we want. The winery is located a little of the beaten path, easy to find and the parking is great. Being from Nebraska, we cannot just drive down when we need wine, so we have cases shipped to us whenever we need wine. They ship to any state where it is legal. .The shipping is fast, reliable and reasonable and I must say very well packed. Have not had a broken bottle yet.
The tour is small and not a very big place, but for a family owned place it was great. Very nice and friendly people. It was an enjoyable visit.
The staff that we dealt with was not very friendly. The wine was typical muscadine wine with no real uniqueness. Thumbs down.
I had been looking forward to this stop and wasn't disappointed. The owner's son greeted us as soon as we walked in and took us on a quick tour. This is a small family run operation so of course the tour isn't extensive. They are very proud of their wines and rightfully so. I knew nothing of muscadine grapes but found that I liked many of the wines, although they are much sweeter than I would normally drink. Highly recommend this fun establishment.
This is the best kept secret in NatchezIt is had to believe that most that go to Natchez will never hear of this place. We have been going for years. I make my own wine and this is one of the few wines that I buy.If you like muscadine wine this is a must stop. Miss Scarlet is my favorite.
We were in Natchez celebrating our 12th year wedding anniversary. The Old South Winery is a great place to go with your love to do wine tasting and touring. It could be great with friends too, no shade intended lol! The pricing is great. The more you buy the more you save. Muscadines are full of antioxidants and the wines taste wonderful! When you come to Natchez, stay at the Natchez Grand Hotel and take the short drive to the Old South Winery!
What fun!!! This is a little winery operated by a family that is just as casual as one can get! I have done Napa and spend a lot of time at boutique wineries in the Texas Hill Country (Johnson City/Stonewall/Fredericksburg/Kerrville) but this is something completely different. It ain't fancy. It ain't pricey. It's just good fun. The wines are a little sweeter than any I generally like but the two "dryer" varieties (one red, one white) are tasty and worth a purchase. If you prefer sweeter wines, you definitely want to stop here. The "decor" is about as low-key as you'll encounter but just plain fun. Stop by and visit a while. It's air-conditioned and a nice break between plantation visits and shopping!
Unfriendly large lady said our taste for wine was incorrect. We never tried Muscadine wine before and were very interested in it. She was despicable. I wouldn't recommend unless you enjoy sarcasm and inhospitable service.
