Don't take a tour to get here, if you are arriving by cruise ship you can easily walk up here. It is a nice walk, although I was here in February. Might be too hot in Summer.
Go here! It is about a 15 minute walk from downtown but it is worth it! Pictures cannot capture how powerful this is to see. There is a guide that will give you the history of the staircase. This is free to go see but tip the guide. If you are in the Bahamas you must go see this.
We were greeted by a local representative that spent over 30 minutes with us. He explained how this staircase came to be and the history of the area. I visited as part of a self guided walking and it was well worth the visit.
I hate that I forgot his name but the guide waiting was very charismatic and really kept our group interested in the history of the staircase and I know it was mainly because we all kind of include ourselves in the story but he was a sport about it. There was a young lady selling some handmade, cheap souvenirs just sitting there so I went over and she was so sweet. I bought a few items and she gave me some for free to give to my niece and nephew. The staircase was pretty short to me and there wasn't much to see but I bet creating that landmark was more than I could have ever bared. Give it a chance, people make a living doing it and tipping won't take to much out of your pocket!
We visited the Queen's staircase as part of a port tour from our cruise ship. Interesting to see, but really just a 10 minute stop, no more
You have to go there . You can take tour of the island from the hotel . You can find a guide there and he told you the history of staircase and fort . The view is amaizing .
We googled map to walk from ship to staircase and walked out of the way into a bad part of town. Luckily some nice locals turned us around so we wouldn't get into trouble. They have "local" historians that will give you some history about the staircase and surroundings and then ask for a tip.
There was a disabled man who gave us the entire history of the stairs. This was a great stop on our tour. Beware! The stairs are steep and uneven.
We loved our tour of the island! We arrived in port not knowing what to expect and was approached by Simply Dave. He offered us a tour around the island for $35. It was the best decision we made. He was very fun and entertaining. Told us alot of interesting stories and kept us laughing. We heard queens staircase very busy place, but very few people. We spent a couple hours beach time in Atlantis, and went through casino. If want transportation ask for Simply Dave at port. We were going to ride bus but so glad we didn't he let us keep bags and souvenirs in van while touring. He watched our belongings so we didnt have to pack bags around. Thanks so much Simply Dave!!!
Not a lot to see here, but one of the more interesting things in downtown Nassau. Came into town to do some exploring while staying at the Riu on Paradise Island. Worth a stop. (Go for a quick look around the fort while you're up there)
