As a child this was my favorite beach. I had not been back in almost 2 decades and of course I didn't have unrealistic expectations of it being exactly the same but I was less than impressed with what I found. The sand was so dirty, plastic utensils, napkins, cups, and food all over the place. The amount of flies everywhere was overwhelming and the actual beach water was disguisting - not only was it completely full of seaweed but we also found floating debris (plastic cups and bottles) floating around. I stayed in the water all of 10 minutes and the stress of seeing such a once beautiful beach look so awful just gave me a migraine - the rest of my afternoon was spent in a hammock, away from it all.
I vacationed in PR for a month and traveled to every corner of the island and this place is a little gem. Hands down this is the warmest water, clearest water, best beach for swimming and kids on the main island of Puerto Rico. As soon as we came to this beach I hated myself for staying on the north side of the Island in San Juan for most of my stay. First of all it's on the south side which is the sunny side of the island. The water was so incredibly warm you don't even feel it getting in, whereas the north side PR beaches we went to in January were chilly. As soon as we came to this beach I hated myself for staying on the north side of the Island in San Juan for most of my stay. The water is absolutely tranquil and is supposedly that way all the time. There was so little movement I could lay on the shore with water over my ears while sunbathing and my face never got wet. The water was crystal clear because there was no sand getting whipped around in it by waves. The only drawback I can see about this beach for some is there isn't a massive open expanse of sand. The shoreline has a lot of palm trees, but I actually like that more, makes you not feel so exposed and is kind of like a natural beach umbrella. They also have easily accessible restrooms, a concession stand, and even a lifeguard, all of which are almost non existent anywhere else I went in PR, and I went to probably 20 different beaches.
I choose this beach even by seing some bad reviews and I had an awesome experience and my kids love it I have no complains about it ,I would return this year. Place is clean and really beautiful there was no garbage around, bathrooms were clean and everyone was really friendly its a family place that I will always recomend..Love Puerto Rico
Have been to this been a few times over the past 12 yrs and I have to say it is not as wonderful as it once was. It has been built up too much. Yeah, great that they have rest room facilities, but no toilet paper. A bit neglected.
Its actually really nice, I just marked three stars since it wasn't like anything fancy... just nice. Decent size beach, and nice calm shallow swimming water. Easy for small kids. Has bathrooms and changing areas. Looks like there are BBQ pits as well.Only cost was for parking. I think that was about $3.
Place to snorkel around Rincon, PR. Lots of fish. Even saw a sea turtle. Coral is tired. No color. But, waters were calm and clarity was good.
