Spring and Summer 2014 can't come fast enough to experience once again Norris Paddling Adventures! Pursuing Norris Paddling Adventures several times last year 2013 has been such great fun. To enjoy this escape-filled elixir out there on the open waters is rejuvenating and solace for the soul. The owners leave a lasting impact, obvious by the hallmark reviews. It's January 2014, and we can all count down until those kayaks are out there once again creating wake and paddling through the awesomeness of the beauty all around at Norris Lake. http://www.NorrisPaddlingAdventures.com
My wife and I are getting reacquainted with canoeing after many years. John was very helpful in explaining the basics. He was encouraging, patient and was in no way condescending like some "experts" tend to be. The equipment was first rate and of course Norris Lake is beautiful. The variety of types of paddling water craft give anybody interested in getting involved in low imprint water recreation lots of choices. I would recommend Norris Paddling Adventures to anyone. Thank you for the vote of confidence Gene! :)
Amazing location and knowledgeable owner make the perfect combination! If you're into paddleboards, canoes, kayaks or hydrobikes, then John and Norris Paddling Adventures needs to be on the top of your list. Thanks again for teaching me how to paddleboard! ;-)
We took a 6 pm guided hydro bike tour around Norris Dam and it was GREAT. The tour guide John was very knowledgable about the history of the dam as well as the lake area and provided many interesting facts. Norris Lake is like none other in East TN. The serene warm clean lake is so inviting. The natural surroundings were amazing and our timing impeccable. The sun setting, the mist rising and the cool breeze returning to dock, made our experience perfect. The hydo bikes were an ideal way to experience it.
The owner John is very knowledgable and helpful. He's taught me to paddle board and kayak. I've went several times and it's fun by yourself or with a group. You won't be disappointed. The water is beautiful and clear. I can't recommend this experience enough! It's definitely addictive :)
My husband and I drove to Norris Lake over my fall break in October. We rented a tandem kayak and had a great time paddling around and exploring the lake. John is an experienced outdoor guide and gave us several helpful tips and was very friendly. We enjoyed it so much we're gifting the experience to others!
I was a bit hesitant to try the hydro-cycles but it was very smooth and easy. The bike is on a small platform that is supported by two pontoons. It was very stable and the effort to pedal is easy to moderate. There is a small compartment to store a few things and cup holders. I didn't get wet at all but it looked easy if you wanted to slip in the lake for a quick dip. The operator of Norris Paddling Adventures is very friendly. Overall a great little adventure to celebrate my husband's 62nd birthday.
My husband & I have been wanting to try stand-up paddleboarding for a while now. He found out about Norris Paddling Adventures at a meet-up site for Outdoor Knoxville. It was great! The group was small, only 6 people + the instructor. We started out in a cove protected from boat traffic to get instructions & basics. Then we worked our way out to the open water & learned how to handle the boat wake on the boards. After paddling around for a while, we were encouraged to explore a bit on our own, & bring the boards back to the marina in about 30 minutes. All in all a great adventure, & we will probably be back in the fall to take a kayak tour of the foliage!
Had a great time! Paddle board yoga is so fun and relaxing...Amber is a great instructor...best time on Norris lake...can't wait until next Summer to try it again....It is a must do if your experienced or a beginner in either yoga or paddle boarding you will not be disappointed! Go ...see John super cool guy, laid back easy going! Cant wait to do it again!
