Florida’s craft beer scene is on the rise with new breweries opening up every month across the state. One of the newer breweries is located in Oakland Park, very close to Pompano Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s Funky Buddha Brewery, an operation with some great beer and atmosphere.I took a recent trip to the Fort Lauderdale area and, since I am a beer blogger with GreatBeerNow.com, I took time to visit some of the breweries and brewpubs in the area. Funky Buddha was easily the standout for several reasons. At the top of the list is, of course, the beer. I was impressed to discover so many house beers on tap and even more impressed that the majority of them were specialty/seasonal offerings. I sampled as many as I could and I liked them all. They even had some guest taps with other beer offered, for an even wider selection. The next most impressive feature of Funky Buddha Brewery is the facility itself. It is very big, capable of holding large crowds and still providing plenty of elbow room. There is a separate room where guests can play bocce or cornhole and still enjoy consistent service from the wait staff. They even have some board games to play and it’s common to find special events held here. When I visited, they were hosting an art- related function complete with boards, paints, etc. Most other breweries wouldn’t have the space for something like this, but Funky Buddha’s interior is so roomy, there was no problem accommodating a group of this size.Funky Buddha Brewery doesn’t sell any food of its own, but it’s common to find food trucks outside and there is no problem taking food from the trucks and bringing it indoors. The staff at Funky Buddha Brewery is knowledgeable about beer and ready to answer any and all questions. I loved it here and highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates great craft brew.

Funky Buddha was our first stop on the brewery tour. Before the tour started we sampled some beers until deciding to go with Dees Nuts and French Toast, delicious! The tour included a free glass, samples, and a whole lot of cool information. The place is cool very homey, staff friendly, and wide selection of games!
This place rocks! Whether you come to watch a game or hangout with friends this place is good all around. The beer is fresh and the flavors are out of this world. I can honestly say this is the only beer I purchase. There is no food served, but that’s ok because there is always a few food trucks hanging out up front. Go on their tour and learn about all the real stuff that goes in their beer, I learned a few things, and didn’t realize that beavers something, something is what is used in some other name brand flavored beer...yuck!!!
Their beers are made on premises and they continually experiment with new varieties of their classic brews as well. You can take a tour, play corn-hole or board games, or watch sporting events on their large screen tvs. I am a member of their Imperial Club where I get special perks like an etched glass and extended happy hour. They host rotating food trucks and are the anchor of an emerging foodie scene in the area.
One of my favorite breweries in Florida, and I'm from NC! Always try to stop in when I am in the area for work, love the variety and flavors. Great indoor & outdoor seating, plenty of parking nearby and always a great selection of food trucks outside for food.
It's a good place, good beer.... but not food!?????It's a nice place, but not good music and also not a place to stay for hours....Just to drink 2 or 3 beers and go to other place.
We made a day trip to FB from the St. Petersburg area on our recent visit. Since it was Saturday afternoon, there was a pretty decent sized crowd, but we found seats at one of the tasting tables where we ordered samples of almost all their beers- I think 25 or so were available. We took our time and enjoyed the company of some West Palm friends. We played some bocce in the games area, and checked out the dog adoption event they were hosting. I certainly appreciate companies that use their resources to make the world a little better! We left with a few growlers, some glasses, and a sweatshirt for good measure. Great place!
If you do like artisanal breweries and the taste of real good beer and you are on a trip to both Miami and/or Ft. Lauderdale you can't miss it! Take a tour on Funky Buddha, discover how their beers are made and both taste some of them during the tour and them a bunch of them on tap on their bar!
"Hop Gun" is one of the best tasting beers to appear in decades! Free board games available to play, as well as big table games in the back room - bean bag toss, foosball, etc. Also, uniquely, bring your own food in, call for food delivery, or visit the food truck parked outside the door (changes daily). Lots of elbow room so you do not feel crushed while enjoying the craft beers available.
