If you like the old west you will like it. The cemetery is not big but interesting. If you are handicapped forget going up to it. You can read about it from the sidewalk. Some of the people that ended up there are quite colorful.
It was interesting reading the history about some of the people that were buried there in the past. The cemetary are itself was mostly replica wooden burial markers and a statue of a Trail Boss. Nice little walk.
We found this looking for the restaurant. It was a nice diversion, and a chance to pick up some local history.
This is an old Wild West Cemetery located at the northern part of the town. It's easy to find & a short walk to the site. Takes you back to the days of the old west in a downtown.
I was shocked at the appearence of Boothill. There was no grass anywhere just overgrown weeds. Most of the graves have been removed. It appears no maintenance has been done in a long time. No handicap accessibilty.
This is an old cemetery in the town of Ogallala, Nebraska. It is overgrown with native plants as it may have been in the 1800's. Some of the graves are marked, many are not. It has a very steep incline so beware you must walk up hill a bit. Interesting history and worth a quick stop.
Most everyone has been moved out of this place. Not as interesting as I thought it would be. The statue is nice to see, however.
There really wasn't much of anything to see here except the statue at the top of the hill, and the informational display at the bottom of the hill. I'm not sure it was worth going out there since most of the bodies have been removed, and the remaining markers are uninteresting and in poor condition. Certainly not as interesting as the Boot Hill in Tombstone. But if it's a nice day, and you're into the history of it, you might not mind the short drive out there to see it.
Even though the grass are gone the location and hill is what I expected a former pioneer cemetery would look like. Enjoyed the statue of the Trail Boss. Just a part of Western history which someone tried to preserve. Use your imagination and enjoy it
Very small but well signed with lots of interesting facts. Good photo stop! The entrance has some boards with stories.
