From reading some of the reviews below, I can't imagine we played at the same place... I brought 44 guys for my annual Ryder-Cup style charity event... The staff and management were unbelievably accommodating and the facility was fantastic. The rangers did a fantastic job of keeping everyone on pace. If you found them over-bearing then you are TOO SLOW and need to be courteous to your fellow golfers. Thank you for a great weekend. We will be back!
I had the opportunity to play Grand National Golf Course this last week. The conditions of the golf course were excellent and the pace of play was much better than we expected, about 3:50. The course is an excellent design that opened a couple of years ago and now has become a very nice course with adequate fairways and excellent landing areas. The greens are open in front so you can run a shot up to the green. The summer rates make the course very affordable. I would highly recommend, my tip is to play early and get the best conditions. Arrive early and take advantage of the driving range. Enjoy!
Drove from Atlanta,GA to Grand National GC and it was well worth it. The staff was spot on, especially the starter. Excellent course conditions and not an extremely tough course.
The Rangers were over bearing. The cart lady we saw one time the whole round. Our cart died. The greens were horrible. Also the place seemed vacant. No one was at the hotel and it seemed as though they aren't making enough money to keep the course running. Don't waste your time. Plan a different golf trip. Absolutely god awful.
Played all three courses and all were excellent. The Lake and Links are well maintained and beautiful. The short course was equally well maintained and fun to play. Staff was extraordinary.
The course and facilities are beautiful and align with the expectations for the highly advertised RTJ Trail. However, the unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of everyone we encountered during our visit made this a very bad experience. We expected much better customer service for this type of venue, especially given the premium rates. It is quite a drive from Atlanta to Grand National and I would never make it again nor recommend to anyone due to the very poor customer service we experienced.
The shot course and the Links course greens were in poor condition --- bumpy, bare spots and just not up to "par". The driving range appeared to be in good shape but they had you hitting off mats, not what you would or should expect when you are paying premium prices. The should provide a yardage book in the price as even using GPS or range finders you could not find the humps and hazards. BTW, you usually see green stakes where water or marsh cuts into courses. Not here.Service was good although the food service was slow with no beverage/food cart on the day we played.A last point for consideration. We played three RTJ Trail areas - Cambian Ridge, Grand National and Capital Hill. Cambian Ridge was the worse by far. I dropped an email to management on the cost versus the course condition and value and have not heard anything back yet (eight days). We were very disappointed and shall neither return nor recommend the courses (except Capital Hill).
Great course, the greens were in great shape and ran about an 11 on the stimp they said. Lots of undulations on them and very crafty design of the environment here. Jones did a fantastic job here. Would definitely recommend a trip out here if you've never been. You will not be disappointed. Plenty of water and bathroom facilities available on the course.
Great courses, including a really fun par three track, surrounded by mature forest and an enormous lake. Greens could have been faster, but that's nit-picking. Terrific courses that were a joy to play.
Sure some of the courses are less spectacular than others. I can also imagine that the hospitality quotient might not be consistently good at every location. One must remember, however, that these are public courses. The Grand National Lakes Course ranks right up there in terms of golfing challenge, scenic beauty, and competent service.
