I go through this park on pretty much a daily basis, using the paved trail to jog, bike or walk through the park. The paved trail can be taken either north, through nicely wooded areas, to the Orillia / Severn Township boundary, or south to Tudhope Park, with the added bonus of it being plowed and sanded during winter months. Couchiching park has a very nice (lifeguard monitored in summer) beach, a modern boat launch, an expansive, modern playground for children and new washroom facilities that are well maintained and cleaned. A good selection of picnic tables, benches and covered picnic areas are available on a first come, first serve basis, and a good selection of restaurants, as well as the Royal Legion, are all close by for food and beverage purposes. Fishing is available for shore anglers at the two concrete docks, with sunfish, perch, and rock bass, all prolific feeders, keeping younger kids entertained. The only downside is that it can become quite busy in the peak summer months, especially on weekends, at which time if you prefer a more quiet park, Tudhope is only a short drive away, with many of the same amenities.
Wide lawns, beaches, pavilions, old bandstand, mature trees, miniature train runs all summer. The "aquatheatre" is an eyesore, but it's tucked out of the way.Can be very crowded on summer weekends.
Whether it is stolling along the boardwalk and checking out the boats at the Port of Orillia, or relaxing at a picnic table or bench, or swimming at the beach, Couchiching Beach Park is one of the nicest waterside parks I have experienced.
This park is beautiful. Always full of people. Families picnicking, boater's, fisher's, kids swimming, or playing at the park. The fireworks were amazing as we got to sit right on the beach. Pretty much every weekend throughout the summer there is an event going on. Couchoching Park is a great place to be.
This park has a large marina, boat launch and lots of parking. There is the Aqua theatre that has Sunday evening band concerts in the summer. Lots of events are hosted there throughout the summer. Lots of play areas for children and good swimming areas also.
This wonderful park offers it ALL. There is a 1st class marina, lovely picnic grounds with a grocery store and Shopper's Drug Mart within walking distance. An extensive children's playground, a safe sandy beach, a 7 km walking trail that goes right through the park, and entertainment at the Aqua theatre every Sunday evening. The downtown of Orillia is an easy walk. Many locals go to the park to just relax on a park bench along the boardwalk under the trees and watch the boats come and go in the summer-time. If you are a boater on the Severn waterway it is a perfect stop-over. If you are passing by on Highway 11 it is a good spot to relax for a bit.......and you might just decide to stay longer.
This was a very active park even in the dead of winter. The trail along the lakeside is nice and was full of runners and dog walkers. Unfortunely the summer bathroom/vender building run by the city and local chamber had a disasterous fire a few weeks ago and has burned to the ground so a rebuild is in the future. There is a nice childrens area as well. This park has many mometos of how long its history date back to and we enjoyed our walk.
Good shallow a rea to swim. Jogging trails are great. Great place to sit in the sun. Great splash pad for kids. Very crowded on weekends but not to bad through the week. Parking adequate.
This beach is good for swimming, sun bathing and events both summer and winter.Plenty of equipment for kids.
The place is next to the waterfront and hence its very relaxing for an evening out with friends and families.
