This is an all around good place for almost anything. Kids, beach, a bit of a water park, long trails you could roller blade on. Suntan, some privacy. Areas to play sports. Lots of parking, ice cream, bathrooms and easily accessible from anywhere by boat or car or walking in. A very small dock or anchor off shore. Part of the Orillia path system goes through here. Good to picnic at. BBQ. Lost of events are held here that closes the park for the weekend so check the Orillia Chamber of Commerce site for the area events, some which may be in this park.
I've always enjoyed coming to Tudhope Park. The walking trail (which is a loop) is a great place to get a bit of exercise. They have a fantastic playground for the kids that has been completely updated. I got a bit of a chuckle out of this little walking simulator exercise installation that they have now in the park. You can stand on it and exercise your legs while going nowhere but it's such a beautiful park so why would you want to be stationary as such. They have many festivals in this park and on some weekends it is inaccessible.
a quiet and pleasant "peninsula" on lake Couchiching brings forth the tranquility that one may expect if you are driving north of Toronto
Long time ago Tudhope Park was a place for "camping" ie town kids partying! Going there now is like going to a beautiful resort park. So proud of Orillia...take the kids, the dogs, the baseball players, the bikes, the swimmers...wonderful!!
They used to manufacture Tudhope Cars here in Orillia till about 1914, and then family gave about 85 acres waterfront land to the Citizens of Orillia. Green space,it's the site of the Mariposa Folk Festival, has swimming beaches, one patrolled, one free, baseball diamonds, picnic sites and the Curling Club (actually on adjacent city-owned land) It is well maintained by the City, I think the remains of the Tudhope family still have a say in the activities permitted.
We've visited Orillia a couple of times this summer and we love this park/beach/splash pad. There are lifeguards on duty with a nice beach and water to play in. The water doesn't get too deep so it's nice to visit with kids. The beach is right next to the splash pad which has some nice variety for the kids. Always lots of kids having fun but not too crowded. Right next to that is a small playground - which the kids loved as well. This area hooks up to a nice trail system, change rooms/washrooms as well as an ice cream vendor. Great location to spend a nice summer day!
We were a bit late in the year to take a dip in the lake, but the park was clean, the seagulls and geese friendly and walking around was a fun experience,
Tudhope Park is an excellent park for the family. The beach isn't the biggest but it is wonderful none the less. There are change rooms and a water pad. The kids can play on the equipment as well. There is a chip/hot dog wagon and ice cream. You can bring your own barbeque. Of course, Mariposa Folk Festival is here every year. July 4, 5 and 6 for 2014. Mariposa is the best time ever for family entertainment.
Something here for all ages! Playground facilities excellent, swimming, ballpark, restaurant and walking/biking path are delightful.
Tudhope was one of the first places that my husband and I visited after moving to the area. This is a fun, versatile park and would be especially great for a family with young kids. Definitely one of the nicer parts of the city!
