If you like to mountain bike, this is a great place to check out.All the trails are marked very well, with lot's of variety for beginner and advance. They have summer camps for kids also!
The trails at Hardwood offer a good range from beginners to advances skiers (more hills and diverse scenery than in Horeshoe). The website is always updated and has the latest information about trail conditions. The facilities are clean and well maintained - a great experience overall!
Hardwood Hills is a first-class operation. The skiing trails are laid out really well and maintained very well. Good trail maps and descriptions let you choose the kind of day you want on the trails. Love the daily ski report on the web site too. The full service pro shop with helpful staff is a real plus. Nice storage area for day packs in the lounge with a few chairs nearby for changing out of gear (so thoughtful). When hunger strikes, there's good food options: power bars for the trail and lots of meal options when you return. There's also wireless access in the lounge, a nice value-added feature.
Our family has been skiing regularly at Hardwood Hills for over 10 years, beginning when our kids were quite young. There is a good choice of trails ranging from those that can be enjoyed by recreational skiers who may only ski a few times a year, to challenging courses with great hills. The trails are almost always well groomed. There are also snow shoe trails, though I have never tried them. The chalet is simple but welcoming, with shelves to leave your bags, tables to eat lunch at, food service, and a ski shop with equipment, clothing and rentals. They also provide ski clinics which I highly recommend.
I went with a group of friends for a introductory lesson for mountain biking. The instructor, Michael, was very thorough, making sure he knew how much experience everyone had, and making sure everyone's equipment/bikes were ready and safe to ride. Although I do bike, I still learned lots from this session. The trails are for many abilities, so that you can challenge by choice. Riders at Hardwood were of all abilities, so don't think that you will be out of place. For a group of 5, for a two hour lesson + a trail pass, it worked out to @ $50 each. Excellent value!
If you enjoy cross country mountain biking you can't not like this place. Great trails from easy 2km rides to 15 km technical courses. They also host Wednesday night races for all capabilities and skills sets. Probably the best managed set of trails in Ontario
Skiing in warm weather on great trails. Go early in the day. Save the grocery shopping and errands for later.
Tubing was fun! Would like to try it at night! Tip: let them spin you when you go down the hill! Next time I would like to try other activities they offer..
I decided to give snow shoeing a try for the first time recently and really enjoyed exploring the numerous trails Hardwood offers. They also have cross country skiing, which I may check out in the near future. Overall great first experience which I would recommend to anyone looking for a day of good old winter fun.
Lots of options in cross country ski trails with knowledgeable staff. With winter conditions that can change in a matter of minutes, staff were able to "adjust" my waxless skis so that I could enjoy the trail and not worry about the equipment.
