There many more beautiful beaches nearby (Tantra, Hotel Savoy beach, Mošćenička Draga etc) where you have beautiful transparent sea and not 50 people in 1m2
NIce beach, but a little bit rocky. But the water was absolutely clean. Good place to spend a holiday weekend.
This beach is a mockery of tourism. Simply do not meet basic standards. Abbey is not a place that you can rely on the beach but a walk along the sea is invaluable.
It is close to the center, just across the gas station and the fountain. I do not like the fact that all beaches in Opatija are concrete, including this one. You enter the water just like a pool- from stairs. Sunbeds are expensive and you also pay 2 kuna for 30 sec of shower, and 2 kuna for toilet. There is a part for kids, also like a pool and it doesn't look clean, it gets muddy. There are two restaurants, rent-a-jet ski, trampoline, (sandbox with swings, which is only free thing on this beach) and some other things for water fun, which are also for rent/pay for.
The "beaches" in Opatija are paved concrete, or rocky. Most people head to the concrete. You can rent reclining beach loungers for a nominal amount, but make sure you leave books, towels, clothes, etc. on them, as people may take empty chairs. Also, if you hit the concrete later in the afternoon, people who are leaving their loungers will gladly give them to you, as they have already paid for them. The chair rental people may try and make you pay again. Don't be fooled! Say that this chair was already paid for, and your friend has given it to you. They will leave you alone after that :)
But remember it is conrete beach as usually in Croatia. It is located very well in the city center close to bars and restaurants. Nice facilities, not crowded (September).
Great location, warm sandy beach, private yet close to everything. Some topless bathers which was nice yet not so nice if you know what I mean.
Slatina beach is a real disgrace! After you pay 100 kuna for a set of sunbeds with a parasol you will still be charged for entrance fee for toilets, which are absolutely disgusting, and every time you want to use a shower you must pay additional 2 kuna for 30 seconds of shower time. I have travelled a lot and never seen this anywhere else. Just terrible!
A place of concrete among the other similar places. Hardly anything to do there.Close to Opatija Riviera, it offers very little in terms of option and style. Good for families with young children though.
We were warned that the best beaches are not in Opatija. However, the sea is the sea and this beach was an easy walk from our hotel. It gets very crowded when the weather is warm, so we didn't really feel comfortable staying for too long.
