My husband and I visited MontGras on our honeymoon last week. The tour guide, Marcelo, was a great tour guide. He took us out to the vineyard and explained the different types of grapes and leaves that make the different types of wines. Marcelo then took us to taste some of the wines. He was so passionate and knowledgeable about wines. We learned so much and the wine was amazing. I would absolutely recommend that you visit this winery if you're touring Colchagua Valley!
Gonzalo our wine tasting guide Gonzalo was great. The wine lovely. The state lovely. We had a great time. Great value and easy to get to.
Our guide Carlos was fantastic and the most knowledgable of all of the winery tours we did. It felt authentic and more interesting than any other tour. Highly recommend that you visit this one if in Santa Cruz!
Wine is nice, no matter colour, but on this tour you'll have a taste of everything! How this lovely winery looks like, how the different leaves are, and which one was the "cat face"? You will know when you take the tour. When you only smell the wine from a barrel and can't see the colour, is it red or white? Taste it directly from the tank, the fun way. Taste the grapes, and get to know the different characteristics of the classical wines, and of course Chile's Carmenere. I've never learned so much and tasted that much different wine in any tour in any country. This is just fun! Enjoy, and "Salud" :)
MontGras was suggested to us by Connie Poblete, who runs her own business organizing private tours of the Colchagua Valley. I had never heard of this winery, but Connie highly recommended it and helped us fit it into our plans. We're so glad she did! The grounds were very pleasant, including a colonial-type building housing a shady courtyard, surrounded by beautiful vineyards. The wines were surprisingly delicious, as was a cheese and antipasto plate they assembled for us as a kind gift from Connie. But the best part was the service: our pourers were friendly, knowledgeable, and very passionate about wine. What a lovely memory!
We visited three winerys, they were all good, but MontGras was the best, Marcelo was such a great host, we had a good time and really enjoyed it. And they have the best chilean wine we tried. If you have the chance to visit MontGras, its the best place in Colchagua valley
We had a tour and did a unique blind tasting activity on our private tour. It was a fun way to taste many of their wines and discuss their differences. Excellent and gracious English-speaking tour guide.
This place is a great vineyard to visit for a different type of wine tour. They offer traditional tour and tasting (accompanied with food!), make your own bottle of wine (and they give you aprons!) and an evening of horseback riding, picnic and wine tasting with a killer sunset. We did the tour and tasting. It is informative and they have delicious kumquats to try! Favorite part is that they allow you to taste the wines that are not quite ready by opening the spout and putting your mouth under it to enjoy! Super fun and very different from any other winery I have been too. The only downside is that their restaurant has to have a reservation a day in advance so they only buy food for that many people. It would be nice to have a cafe or restaurant to eat at or buy a glass of wine after the tour. Highly recommend and is close to the city center. You can also bike to it but in the summer time it gets hot in the afternoon!
This was my first experience visiting a Chilean winery and it set the bar high. Cristian (sp?) was fluent in English and knew a great deal about the wine regions of the world. I very much enjoyed the wines in this stunning location and bought more of them here than anywhere else I visited in Chile.
Smaller of the wineries but was very informative and we got to make our own wine blend. Very entertaining and staff were all very nice and helpful.
