beautiful setting for the museum which is surrounded by well kept gardens. The museum itself- simply superb with a varied exibition of jewellery.I personaly enjoyed the Ethruscan and Greek jewellery as well as 1930s and 1970s pieces.Well stocked, well displayed. The children enjoyed it too.
If you ask, people working there will be happy to explain whatever you ask for. One of the most charming and interesting museuems I have ever seen !!!
Here we learn about the different minerals and stones used in the jewelry industry as well as the history of jewelry itself and its importance for the city and the villages of the Black Forest,
nestling within a beautiful park in suburban Pforzheim, this was a pleasant surprise.well displayed jewellery covering all ages.I found Helenic and Etruscan jewellery especially beautiful.small downside: no book dealing specially with the 60s and 70s jewellery which was abundant in the museum.well worth a visit.
The artifacts on display really showed the history of jewelry and watchmaking in the Pforzheim area. The pieces displayed were quite impressive!
The Schmuckmuseum is always interesting. They have small changing exhibitions that are always well and informatively organized. The permanent collection is fascinating and covers all periods. For anyone who appreciates jewelry and the artistry behind the creations this should be a must see museum.
