The Sweet Palace is not for the faint of heart... but for the true lover of Chocolate and other sweets. Everyone is so nice and again the chocolate is to die for. They also make their own fudge and taffy. They also have a whole wall of "old" time candies that you are not going to find at your local stores. The Sweet Palace is well worth the trip out of your way feed your sweet tooth and experience great chocolate.
If you like candy, you'll like the Sweet Palace. I can't think of one item that they did not carry from fudge, truffles, gummy everythings, chocolate covered anything, sweet and sour confections, you name it! The prices for most of the candy was $7.95/pound. The truffles, grizzly paws, turtles and chocolate bark was more like $16 per pound, so if that's your thing, it can get quite pricey. However, the charm of the store front and the choices offered make it a worthwhile splurge in my opinion. If you are in the tiny town of Philipsburg, The Sweet Palace is not to be missed.
Wow such a great assortment..you'll find everyone's favorite candy here!!! And such a great looking shop ,wow!! I bought lots of old fashion hard to find treats for the family.
I was recently in Montana visiting my boyfriends parents when they decided to take us on a scenic tour to some of the small towns on the western side of Montana. Philipsburg was a charming little town with a brewery, an amazing BBQ place, and of course this candy store. As soon as we walked into the store the owner greeted us and told us how the store worked. All of the assorted candies can be mixed and matched into a bag which costs $7 a pound. The caramel s. chocolates, and fudge are all homemade, and taste incredibly fresh. Don't forget to try a free sample of the fudge, the owner gives you a huge slice, probably the biggest sample size i have ever seen. Overall, this store is very charming and is must visit when in Montana.
We visit here each time we come to Philipsburg. I'm a chocoholic so I don't even get past the fudge selection and moose and bear tracks to get to the candy. Sometimes, they demonstrate taffy making with their old fashioned machine, which is cool. Lots of historic charm and a must see in southwest Montana.
Open every day but Saturday, The Sweet Palace is a one-of-a-kind destination. Well worth a detour if you're traveling I-90. Bring the kids - they're welcome and they'll love it. Parents rediscover the wonder of their youth here too. 700+ varieties of candy - house made taffy, fudge, chocolates and more. And, if you're not overcome by all that, you can enjoy the historic simplicity of the store interior - restored tin ceiling, the old hardware store bins that now hold candy rather then nuts and bolts. Often you can watch the antique taffy puller working up new batches of saltwater taffy. If you can't make up your mind, the staff will be pleased to assist.
We were told this is the largest candy store in the west. I believe it. They had everything in a wonderful historic building. You have to step in if you are in Philipsburg!
The Sweet Palace is the first stop whenever we visit Philipsburg Montana. My husband and I are newly weds. We stopped at the Sweet Palace on our honeymoon. The stop was as usual, a hightlte to our honeymoon tour. The relationship we have as a couple is as sweet and the Sweet Palace. The staff is friendly and helpful whenever we have been there. And we like to look at Mr. Frog at the top of the stairs. All of the wooden tables upstairs are beautiful and well placed.Phillipsburg is so fortunate to have such a clean, well run, and fun business in "P" burg. Besides the candy is to die for. If we escape with $50 worth of candy, it is unusual. We hoard and enjoy each delicious morse of candy.Job well done Sweet Palace.PS. My husband and I are 73 and 79 year old newly weds-Life is good and sweet just like the Sweet PalacePatricia Prinzing
I initially walked by the store, showing incredible restraint, but then I turned back and entered and I was glad I did! I was greeted by an employee who explained how the store worked with the pricing structure and he offered me a piece of taffy. I grabbed a bag and started adding a bit if this and some of that, working my way around the walls. It is a bit overwhelming and I am sure I missed some shelves but I came out with a good sized bag of candy and even a cool birthday gift at a very reasonable price. I am eating huckleberry fudge as I type this review and it is amazing. Well worth a stop.
It is astonishing to find a candy store with such an extensive selection in this small town in the middle of nowhere. Even if you don't like candy, this former-hardware-store convert is worth the visit for the decor alone. Try the many flavors of caramels - especially licorice! You won't leave without something you like. But plan ahead - it's closed on Saturdays.
