The Skyline Scenic Drive is one of the best scenic drive I have experienced. We could not go all the way to the end of the road as the roads were closed due to snow. Nice road conditions.
Once you get to the top of the road, there is a nice view of the Winds. Part of the drive is below the grade so you don't get a view from beginning to end but it's worth the drive to where you do.
Even if you are just driving through, take the 20 minute drive. The views are truly some of the best in the US and you can see them from your car....We are hikers for views, but this drive was a highlight so we did it twice.
After one windy, rainy day the sun came out and the mountains had been painted with new snow and the lake surfaces were still and a deep, deep blue. Couldn't resist a trip up the mountain. It was spectacular. The further up the road more mountain ranges came in to view until you felt you were hemmed in by a jagged white fence. Just beautiful.
Fantastic ride around the main lake close to PinedaleBreathtaking and a real treat for your sensesPick one of the multiple stop places with great lake views, sit down and just relax looking around, listening to nature music and smelling the most exquisite wild herbsBut dont forget to be protected against mosquitoes
We were visiting family in Green River and drove up to Pinedale for lunch and to take the Skyline Scenic Drive. It was a stunning day! What a delight to find such easy access to stunning vistas and plentiful wildlife. A stop at the lovely Half Moon Lake Lodge is a must. My husband and I intend to return to hike in this gorgeous part of Wyoming!
So glad I took the time to drive up until I couldn't any longer. So many deer, so many views. We explored a bit and found deer skeletons and had fun examining the kills, and also tried to identify all the rocks we found. Hard to believe there are so many boulders around.
Great views of Fremont Lake, lots of birds, and in the evening, saw some deer. Good hiking trails, but we didn't have time to walk them this time.
We loved the drive up to the mountain top. The lake was spectacular and seeing much wildlife made it extra special!
Easy drive. Great views. And hikes or camping at the end of the road if you need to stretch your legs.
