My only regret is that the museum is small and can only display a tiny fraction of their collection at a time. Georgia O'Keefe in many ways represented the southwest to the world and in the museum her story is beautifully and artfully told.
The Georgia O'Keefe Museum, the reason I came to Santa Fe. I have always admired Georgia O'Keefe's work and her as a female in the art world. Her works and the museum spoke to me and affected me emotionally reminding me of my own artistry and how I should have devoted more time to my drawings. The next time I visit Santa Fe I will take the tour of her house. You cannot visit Santa Fe without spending time at the museum.I appreciated the locker room provided to store your coats, wet books and any bags.
We did not have a lot of time to spend here. If you are an O'Keeffe fan you will enjoy this museum. It is small and manageable. The movie about her life is wonderful. I am not a big O'Keeffe fan, but enjoyed this museum.
I have been here several times and always enjoy the exhibits. This time there was a show featuring modernist artists with connections to Santa Fe: Henri, Benton, Hartley, Marin, Sloan, and others. I also enjoyed Ghost Ranch Views: paintings by O'Keefe of the land around Ghost Ranch where she once lived. Both of these exhibitions featured exceptional landscape paintings. The museum shop is worth a stop; it features many tasteful selections and is a great place to pick up souvenirs or gifts.
I appreciate art, and if you are just a huge Georgia O'Keeffe Museum then spend the money, but it is a small museum, and I would suggest a using the $12 to have a nice glass of wine and tour the galleries of Canyon Road for free.
This is a small but lovely museum. You'll see original paintings that aren't O'Keeffe's most famous, but you'll see plenty of famous ones, too. There's a wonderful film you won't want to miss. This museum is a must while you're in Santa Fe.
I do appreciate O'Keefe more than I did before, but I still don't think that this museum is worth more than twice the price of the other museums (art and history) that are only a few blocks away or the museums on museum hill. Having said that, they do do a good job of displaying the paintings. And I found the photographs of O'Keefe and the introductory video of her life to be interesting.
I have seen many Georgia O'Keeffe's works online and in books, but the most famous ones aren't in this museum. I enjoyed the museum anyway. It was nice, but I doubt I'll be back. I'd rather look at the scenery outside.
This museum has been on our "bucket list" for a number of years and we finally got around to it. While I may have expected it to be larger, I found the assortment of her various painting styles to be adequate and really found the photographs of Georgia even more interesting. My only criticism would be that it was confusing just where and of what people were allowed to photograph.
We only had one day; we filled it with 3 churches, 2 museums. It was great! We stayed at the Sants Fe Motel and Inn; which was a pleasant surprise!
