Grand kids love to go to Pueblo Zoo when they are here. A lot of trees, places to set and eat a little something. They enjoy feeding the goats, ducks and geese. Also love to watch penguins playing. Near Christmas the have the electric critters to go walk through and see. I think they do a good job and try hard to keep adding new attractions.
Wide variety of wild exotic animals, with excellent descriptions of habitat, habits, feeding, camouflage, sizes, etc. Also beautiful park surroundings.
This is a lovely manageable zoo, with a nice variety of animals. It is not huge, but it is a great way to spend an afternoon. They had a few animals that I'd never seen before (such as a Pallas cat) and all of the animals were very close. The animals seem quite happy, none of them paced. The zoo is flat, so it is very handicapped accessible. Plus, they have inexpensive wheelchair rentals. The gift shop is very reasonably priced.
The Pueblo Zoo manages a small collection of animals in fairly spacious, well kept enclosures. The animals seem happy and well cared for. Over the years the zoo has made efforts to make upgrades to older facilities and occasionally add some very good exhibits. Highlights for us are the lions, gibbons, sun bear, penguins and river otters. The area around the lions, gibbons and sun bear are nicely landscaped with numerous shady benches.
For a small zoo they have a lot of animals to see. It always amazes me the different animals they have. Nice place to take a couple hour break to walk around when traveling
This is a nice , small zoo. The price is good and you can usually find $2 off coupons easily. Also, if you have a pueblo library card, you can go to the library and reserve a zoo pass and get in free! This is the first zoo I've been to where the lions are able to come so close to the fence. Very intimidating but neat too. I will say that the grounds is in need of some weeding around the exhibits. Some of the exhibits have so much grass and weeds it is hard to see the animals.
Good family zoo...Great for the young ones... Has basic animals...nice walking....No food... Is one of the oldest zoo's in Colorado...great to see
I took my nephews to visit and we enjoyed ourselves, very much. Our favorite was the otters. Their exhibit is set up really nicely. Our only complaints, (the boys noticed this more than I did) was that some of the animals were the only one, of their species, in their exhibit. The one that tore at our hearts was the Meerkat. He (she?) was the only one in an enclosed space with a huge porcupine. The Meerkat was on top of one of the rocks, and he kept staring at us, like he was scared. It would be better if he had a "friend". All of the pictures and film clips that I've seen of these adorable animals, they're always in crowds of other Meerkats. That exhibit bothered us. Other than that, we enjoyed our visit, very much. I would recommend the zoo to anyone.
This is a small zoo but in a very beautiful setting. The price of admission is reasonable so it is a nice way to spend a few hours.
This zoo has come a long way. The exhibits are really impressive and they have a nice variety of animals. It is a nice way to spend the day, and the childrens zoo is so much fun for the kids...and adults too! I absolutely love the otter and penguins and the big cat exhibit is really something to see.
