enjoyed the museum area looking at the antique bobsleds, and basically exploring the grounds it didn't appear that the bobsled run was operating, however we were pretty early and it seemed that is off season in lake placid area.
Don't miss driving to Mount Van Hoevenberg. If you never ski, it's just a beautiful view and a very special place. We never tire of Lake Placid and the attractions in the area. Thankfully, it is not "touristy."
My kids did the bobsled run (they thought that was just okay) and we did a horseback ride through the cross country trails there also. Would recommend both.
We arrived just at the end of peak leaf season, but what a glorious place. All of the beauty and surrounding area is simply gorgeous. Definitely would recommend stopping here.
Take the gondola to the top of the mountain and enjoy the view of the beautiful lakes. The ride up is a bit scary, although it seemed very safe. We had 8 people in one gondola comfortably.
Nice hike that will take 2-3 hours gradually up a mountain. The view at the top was very beautiful. For us it was the perfect hike that only took half a day.
This hike was moderate - not super difficult but definitely sweat-inducing. Took about 4 hours round trip including a nice break at the summit for a picnic lunch.
We went just before the peak ended. A lot of leaves had fallen but was still very gorgeous made for beautiful pictures. It was about 4.5 miles all the way around but it was a great hike
While visiting Lake Placid, we were hoping to find some exciting outdoor activities. We were surprised to find such a good deal for snow tubing. Only $10 a person. Well the "500 ft" drop for snow tubing was just a little steeper than my backyard. What a let down. Not worth it at all. The snowboarding and ski hill looked just as bad, considering it was right next to the snow tubing.
