Saw a wonderful production of Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike. The cast was first rate and we laughed until we cried.
Trinity Rep is a nationally acclaimed professional regional theatre. Its seasons of plays range from classics to contemporary, from experimental drama to Broadway musical. A good number of its long time resident company, while still generally fine performers, are getting a bit "creaky," but some of the new talent they've brought in is just excellent. The quality really varies from play to play, production to production, but when they're on their game, its a fine place to see a show.
Took our three grandchildren to see "A Christmas Carol," and the performance was excellent. The kids really enjoyed it too. All the seats seemed good - ours were - and it was a really enjoyable afternoon.
We go each winter for A Christmas Carol and sporadically during the year depending on the title. My favorite production of Trinity's was Othello, when they submerged the lower levels in water and the actor stood on a rickety wooden stage that resembled the deck of a ship. Some of their production they put such thought into that it is a pleasure, others are merely acceptable but none were a waste of money. If you'd like to watch an affordable live action play that is done sometimes inches from where you are sitting in the audience, you will love your night out here.
We went to see A Christmas Carol. We had never been to Trinity Rep before, but we have heard that it is wonderful---and that it is!! The set was great, the actors superb and the presentation was fantastic. We were told that the play changes every year and that is amazing. It is obvious that this theatre company is both very talented and creative. And since it changes every year and we thoroughly enjoyed this years performance, we will definitely return!
First time at the Trinity Rep and enjoyed it very much. The theater is lovely and, as others have pointed out, you can't get a bad seat. The production of "The Glass Menagerie" was professional and innovative.
Trinity Rep's plays are always superbly performed, with interesting staging and costuming. There are no bad seats, from the front row to the "bench seats" at the very back. Plan to stay for the "talk back" after the show.
Good performance, most of the actors are great, especially children. It was not good to see adult actors acting frivolously in front of the children. However, the book is about an orphan finding family, and in that performance last scene does remind us that many of the orphans are still out there waiting to be adopted. It would be stronger though if they told us that there are 130000 orphans in the USA now, and 600000 in Russia and it is not much better in many other countries.
You can have seen a play many times, and Trinity will totally surprise you with innovation. Never disappointed. Have had season tickets for years.
This theater is perfect for theater goers that want to be up and close to the stage. Great prices on Saturday plays.
