Very interesting and well done. There are a lot of artifacts and large postcard collection. Life on the island must have been challenging for those first settlers.
A great collection of island history! Don't miss it....and all ages will be fascinated with their collections! Be sure to check the bargain barn in back.....more treasures for you to take home!
Enjoyed the presentations; film and history. Clean, with very helpful volunteers and staff. Love to show off with out of town family and friends
I had the opportunity to visit the Lake Erie Historical Society during my recent stay on the island. I took my 8 year old son with me and he enjoyed it almost as much as I did. The volunteers who run the museum are so kind, and they accept 1.00/off coupons that you can get at the island visitors center. The museum has all sorts of artifacts from the island's history, including many items from the ill-fated Hotel Victory. They also have an extensive maritime and model ships collection. Be sure to see the island history video before you tour the museum-it is quite informative.Don't forget to stop by the Historical Society resale shop while you are at the museum.
A perfect break in your day to sit and watch a short mvie about the island in an air conditioned room. Displays are informative and well done.
Enjoy a nice break from the sometimes hectic scene at Put-In-Bay. This small museum is a treat. You'll find displays on the Victory Hotel, Ford Tri-Motor air service, Lake Erie excursion ships of the early 1900's, the 1950's sports car road races, and many other facets of island life. The staff are very helpful and will show a nice video on demand. Don't miss this museum if you're at Put-In-Bay for the Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial celebration.
A nice place to hide while boating on Lake Erie but much nicer when there ar fewer boats and people.
this place is awesome. not well noticed as it's kinda behind the police station. so much nostalgia to check out. make it a stop.
This museum is tucked away and is smaller than I expected. There are lots of ship models along with some other memorabilia. Valuable space was taken with the gift shop which really didn't do anything for me.
