This is definitely an outdoor town, and this is an outdoors event. If you are dressed warm enough, you will find much to do. Remember though that it is dependent on the weather. We were fortunate that the lake was significantly frozen to allow for all the winter sports to take place.
Did not dislike anything! Whether we go in the winter or the summer, it is a joy being there! Expect it to be busy in the summer time and dead in the winter time.
Lake George is a Huge Lake in upstate New York nd during April--September it's a Must visit place for NewYorker nd New Jersey Guyz..very Lively Atmosphere nd a very very Huge Lake like a Ocean..if U hire a Boat to drive then they give five Minutes training to before one go for the Drive,Plus they give Life Jackets to all the peopleUp to eight guys a Boat is allowed..nd Like Ocean one has got the feeling of the water which has go like a tide not a high but little little..Phenomenal experience of Driving the Boat in that up nd down water..would love to go again..
Lake George is gorgeous, welcoming, and amazing year round. Winter carnival allows for enjoyment in the winter and there is a reason everyone from downstate NY comes upstate to Lake George for vacations!
There was a strong disconnect and weird vibe here. We expected some of the summer-only businesses to be closed but the restaurants that were open were not ready for service either. Terrible food, limited menu options and service in the village restaurants, disorganized events at the festival and very few activities were as described in the festival calendar. It was like the village was letting a celebration take place but they wanted no part of it. Hundreds of people come to town to spend money and they have to use disgusting potties right outside of a public bathroom facility? Races are cancelled because only one ambulance is available for the entire lake? Thank goodness for the winery and the great staff at the Quality Inn, they were the only really nice parts about visiting the Village of Lake George Winter Festival.
Have been to Americade many times in June. If you love motorcycles this is a good time to go. Must admit the merchants move their prices up for this event. Lake George is a wonderful lake with many good places to eat. The lake itself is clean and pristine. Area is very busy during the summer...
beautiful scenery - lake was frozen. Town is fairly closed up in winter. Quote romantic if you like snow.
Visit Bolton as opposed to Village, better dining, quainter shops and Sagamore is a must see. Warm weather prevented us from skiing at nearbye Gore but we still had fun. Lots of factory outlets as well.
Wasn't that impressive!! Overall quite a good experience. We take 30 mins helicopter rides, dog sledding and wagon rides. The dog talent show was a disappointment. Too long queue for the chicken wings cookoff. No luck to taste. Weather extremely cold at this time, so didn't stay to enjoy the toast marshmallow. We ended up watching the fireworks from the motel which is across the street.
Our last stay was in November of last year so a lot of businesses and shops were not open. Whenever we go we make a point of stopping in at Duffy's Tavern where the staff is always welcoming and friendly. Our dinner go to is hands down Mario's! For maximum shopping and attraction options I would recommend visiting from late spring through late fall. However, always a beautiful place to visit!
